All sorts of blasts from the past in that post lol

 

On New Year's Eve, 1999, I was at my aunt and uncle's place enjoying a beer as a minor out back by the bonfire. As the countdown to midnight began I could clearly hear everyone gathered around the TV inside counting down: 5,4,3,2,1 HAPPY - right at that moment, my cousin hit the breaker and cut all power to the house. Everyone inside flipped out for a solid 5 seconds thinking the apocalypse had begun. I could not stop laughing.

 

Being a small school sucks... More room for corrupt officials to get elected. I swear those board members have all had corruption scandals follow them throughout their careers.

Kids these days are so soft. Afraid of their own shadows.

 

I wasn't born before 2000, so Y2K isn't my thing. I guess the first scare I went through was 6-6-06

 

Yep. What was the worst thing y'all did as teens lol.

 

If ours were more corrupt, we could probably be 4A again, and actually play local schools. We play Kerrville, San Antonio schools, no one even near Austin. Last time we did, we had to play Westlake - yes, that Westlake (who they downsized) just for thrills.

 

The worst? Like most heinous or like most stupid?

My sophomore year some... People in Ag class painted 1, 2 , and 4 on some show hogs and let them loose inside the main building at my high school. The janitors spent the whole afternoon hunting #3.

 

Oh dear. Let's leave that alone. But I have never beer arrested! Only "detained" at various Canadian border crossings.

 

That one. Being detained at foreign checkpoints is one I can relate to.

 

Evil. The worst thing someone did this year was carve "I'm coming for everyone with my gun" in the stall... Next day, there's an entire SWAT team waking around school lmao. I swear only like 100 people out of 800 students showed up that day.

 

That's just a date, and it's not even a good one. Try a new millennium. Nobody knew what would happen. People were talking about it almost the entire year.

 

I've been detained abroad. Customs agent at the airport in Cancún kept giving me and my bro shit for being US born citizens to Mexican born parents. His supervisor came to chew his ass out, and we were set free.

 

That's a dick move. How about actually being in a country illegally. Try an Eastern Block country at that.

 

And on that note, and checking the time, I think it's time for my adieu!

One of my good friends and I were out late, lady a curfew I didn't know existed, acquiring lost street signs when a lady cop pulled up and out her spotlight on my truck. My buddy was supposed to be the lookout while I "found" the signs. She got out of her cruiser and asked what we were doing out so late. I looked at him, he looked at me, I said we were on the way out to go fishing but I had to pee so we stopped. She shined her flashlight around my truck, the signs we had found were under the plastic bed protector/cover thing, well out of sight. She said, "if you're going fishing, where are your poles?" Without skipping a beat, my buddy hit me on the shoulder and yelled at me, "you forgot the poles?!"... We didn't even get a formal warning. We did find 6 signs.



Still got em.

 

That's a badass story.
