And if you're smart you can start ROTC in high school that way you have the credentials to be an officer right when you go into the military my my nephew did that he's a 21 year old officer in the Navy cuz he did 4 years of ROTC in high school

JROTC and it don't mean dick for officers, barely means anything for enlisted

My Marine Corps changed so much from the time I went in to the time I got out. When I went in, I literally got the shit kicked out of me daily by my drill instructors. Literally. No I fucking mean literally. I literally shit myself after an ass beating once and I'm not ashamed to admit it. When you get beat hard enough you shit yourself, it's a fact.

By the time I was getting out, boot PFC's weren't even addressing me as an NCO by rank when they first arrived. That would have been a death sentence when I was a PFC.

Depends. Want to be a successful, connected officer? You go to military academies. Want to be an officer.... end of statement? Go to college, get a degree in something and do ROTC then commission.
