    If you read the stickers they are only rated for a few thousand pounds. I was surprised.

    NO vehicle is designed for 70mph crashes, except perhaps race vehicles. Tests are at 40mph and below, which is substantially lower energy due to the v^2 component. I think @hiPSI had some stats about crash fatality at 40mph (low) vs. 70mph

    Edit: 4400 lb vehicle @40mph has ~324,000 J of kinetic energy.
    @ 70mph its almost exactly 3X that, 976,000 J

    At 2.5mph, it's about 1200 J.
    It's 1/270th of a 40 mph collision. Still effectively nothing.

    A steel bumper won't give you whiplash. The crash will do that. If you don't believe me, pick your 2 biggest friends and have them hit your truck frame at the same with baseball bat's.
