2018 TRD PRO equivalent front and back suspension

I have worked with headstrong multiple times, they are really great to deal with. They are a small operation so they can only work so fast.

As far as the fox pro equivalent...there are very few, since its a internal bypass. Closest shock i know of that checks those boxes is the BP51, i think someone else mentioned that too.

I had a warranty issue with one of my rear bypasses. Sent it to fox as a "paid service", they found it to be a rolled o-ring and turned it into a warranty repair. It was really awesome of them to do that.

 

I ended up doing the 2.0 FOX struts for the front. Install was very easy. I have not done rears yet but didn't care because it wont affect height, still deciding on those. Had my TRD PRO wheels and 265/75/16 Ridge Grapplers installed today. Here is the final product.

 

How does it ride compared to the stock Hitachis? Truck looks great!

Thank you. So I am never good at describing things but everything feels good. Just the fact that it leveled it out was worth it IMO. With the tires it feels like it shimmies a little bit up front on the highway (maybe because of the more aggressive tread?) but nothing bad like I feel like I have to white knuckle the steering where. Mind you I have never had a truck with anything more than a standard tire. Also, like others have said virtually no road noise from the Nittos. And for the struts, obviously it leveled it up front and not sure but it feels a little softer I think, which is nice. Overall I am very very happy! If anyone is ever in the Tampa area you are more than welcome to meet up and check it out and take it for a ride.

 

Good stuff. I bet that shimmy in the wheel is just the alignment being off from the changed geometry (lift). A quick alignment and you should be good to go.

 

Actually the shop did an alignment and showed me the numbers before I left it was spot on so I am not sure. I may go back and just have them take another look though.

 

Interesting. Are the tires load range E? I’m running BFG KO2 in 265/75R16 load range E and they definitely don’t handle light the passenger rated tires that came on the truck.

The LT265/75-r16 is the heavy duty version with heavier load rating. Doesn’t look like that’s what you got (which is good for ride, and likely you don’t need that extra capacity / strength of the 10ply). unfortunately the KO2 don’t come in anything other than LT for 265/75-R16. I won’t be buying them again when the time comes to replace them.

 

Ahh yea i know what you mean. So far I love these, they did have the in LT but for the extra price I didn't think I needed them. I am down already from 20mpg to 18.5 according to the dash...

 

Yep. Good call man. No use paying extra for something you likely wouldn’t need, nets you even worst mileage, and takes away from ride quality.

You didn't change out UCA's did you? Wonder if that would help at all with the shimmy? According to accutone offroad, anything lifted over 1.5” needs UCA's. I'm no suspension expert by any means lol

 

So I didn't, I was told with a leveling kit I didn't need it but who knows.

 

I’ve heard 1.5” needs UCA’s and I’ve heard that you don’t need them until you hit 3”. You’ll probably never have any real problems, I was just wondering if you did

 

For sure. So I ended up having a Toyota dealer take a look and they said the alignment was off so they fixed that. It helped with the shimmy a little but it is still noticeable. They mentioned it would probably need a road load balance which most tire shops don't do. I don't know much about that but I decided to wait thinking it could be some money grab.

 

If you have any performance shops nearby, that would be the way to go. I don’t trust dealerships with my truck
