I replaced my driverside rear bumper cap with a new bumper cap. But with the process of taking off the old bumper cap i broke the plastic clips that keep the bumper step pads on the truck. The bunper cap fits perfectly, but the step pad on the driversode is loose. What should i do? I tried gorilla double sided tape but that didnt work. And i dont know if glue is the best option. Id prefer to not buy a whole new bumper pad.

I’m sure epoxy for plastic would work. Put the epoxy on and then tape the clip down to hold it in place while the epoxy cures. It’ll probably be even stronger than before.

But the thing is i broke the plastic tabs from the bumper step off completely and it is just hanging there. It stays in place but id prefer it to not move.

That’s what I was referring to. If you still have those plastic tabs/clips that broke off, you can use epoxy for plastic to adhere them back on. If you tossed the broken tabs then I guess not much you can do. I guess you can try this 3m double sided take. This one says it holds 30lbs. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Scotch-E...S6g5BqVmNi7l5Frok7gOv6uTbO9FquXxoC8rcQAvD_BwE

Yea, but now you know how to do it correctly. Right?

    This

Unfortunate, but the best way to solve the problem.

Or if you can find a local who is replacing their OE unit with an aftermarket, or from a salvage yard.

The plastic used in the bumper pad can’t be fixed with any adhesive. You will need to buy a new one. Ask me how I know.

I’m into RC planes, trucks and helicopters where all types of epoxies and glues and adhesives are used. We encounter similar plastics in the hobby. I have tried but, nothing holds for long. The problem is the plastic appears to be nylon based.

I have one without sensor holes with the tabs intact. I bought a complete bumper take off but only needed one of the side pieces. You can have it if you’re in Florida or pay for shipping. It’s just sitting in my garage.

Bumper pad is polypropylene so best way to repair these is with a solder iron. Just had same problem and bought a cheap iron and welded these back on. Worked like a charm.
