It's a no ground plane gmrs radio antenna. Still working on the radio install so I don't know how it'll perform yet. Hopefully well enough for trail communications.

Let us know how it works out. I’m going to be removing my meso KC light and installing the exact same setup.

Anyone interested in a kc-5? Just got it back from body shop. Had it painted gloss black. PM if interested. Also have some kcs. Ended up getting a killer deal on a camper shell so won’t be needing it.

ok... i'm usually ok at this stuff, but this is driving me crazy, or i'm a total idiot (likely).

I tried the headliner method, but while trying to get the back panel off, I never could get the lower tab closest to the window. what's worse is that there are apparently these little white "posts/tabs" thingies that also keep that panel in multiple spots aligned and inserted into the truck … as I continued to pull, two of those popped off and fell down into no man's land... sigh. I just put it all back together minus those posts - seems ok.

    So going the outside route.

Next stupid question. it dawned on me that the only way to screw the assembly (I have the BD4) do the truck is to leave the outer two BD lights loose and hanging so I have access to the bolts. Mount the entire break assembly to the truck, then push the small wires back in and insert/screw in the outer BD lights.

    Do I have that right?

Would it be possible to have a dimmer on the Baja design pods so you could run a wire for a running 3rd brake light, so that when you hit the brakes they come full power? Similar to a raptor 3rd brake light. I know that Baja designs sells the skene dimmer module. Maybe I could integrate that? Just an idea. I was behind a raptor tonight and never knew the 3rd brake light was like that.

Yup. You can seal the two middle ones up before installing but have to wait on the last two until you've installed it.

You could probably accomplish that by running a 4th hot wire up there (probably add a fuse from some thing that is on all the time while the car is on) and adding a resistor to it. Youd have to experiment to see how much resistance to add but I think itd work.

You could use this device from diodedynamics. https://www.diodedynamics.com/2a-led-pwm-dimmer-with-bypass.html. I know for a fact that @MESO has used it before on other projects.

Thanks man. This looks like a great option to do this also. I’m thinking about doing a 5 light Baja design version with 3 reds and 2 whites. Have the 3 reds at 50% for running lights and full power for brake.

    Looks awesome.
@MESO any chance you are thinking of making some plugs that fit in the Allen heads and cover the bolt & cutout? When I get hold of one of these, I’d like to remove the BD logo from the lights, and make everything look flush / smooth. So some plugs that cover the bolts and hide the triangular (shape ish) cutout would finish it all off.

No problem. That would look pretty sick with the Baja lights. I plan on doing it with two KC cyclones for the 2nd gen model. It’ll flow with the tail lights so well.
