    Haha im usually that way.. Working at sorinex got me to slow down and really dial it in. Most that weld this way weld pretty cold. I weld pretty hot and just adapt my travel speed. These are the sliders on my tundra. I rarely change any machine settings for thickness unless I go super thin. typically I run hot enough to single pass 3/8 and do everything with that

    To me, the welds look a little cool. I hope you don't mind us posting our thoughts.

    They will not fail, I just like a little flatter weld.

    I do not mind at all. I'm new to welding to amy constructive criticism is appreciated.

    For what it's worth I did do a bend test and the plate bended in the center and the welds were fine.

    I had them cut and I welded them.

    I never for a minute thought they were not strong enough.

    As a fabricator with LOTS of 44 lbs spools of wire purchased by myself, I am always looking to save money.

    If the weld does not require a huge amount of wire, I'm not using it.
    If
    I can make a spool go an extra week without sacrificing integraty, that equals desert with dinner.

    Drop bracket lift and booger welds
    That's really good to know about 60 anything even on thick metal with deep penetration. So this is a weird thing that I made for an upcoming project. I have a garage that is ever so slightly sloped, and there is the normal 1" lip, and then goes to the driveway. The driveway is also slightly sloped downwards but not a ton. If i have the truck in neutral I can push it around in the garage but it takes a ton of muscle to get it over that stupid lip at the end of the garage. Since I will be removing the gas tank soon, I need an easier way to roll the truck in and out of the garage without killing myself. So basically this is just so I can come along the truck over that stupid lip. No dynamic loading, just a soft easy pull.

    It’s not a penetration thing. It’s a tensile strength thing. Metallurgy stuff. XX10 stuff is great for pipe and stuff that needs to hold fluid/gas/ whatever in under pressure. But 70/90/100...whatever 18. Is made to handle pulling forces.

    I finished my front fender tubes yesterday. It's crazy how much work it takes to do this type of stuff and I give people that do this for a day job, big props. I used non-interlocking tube clamps so my bumper can still be removed if needed. They are not totally identical from the left to right side because my passenger fender is so dented and deformed, but close enough for me. Next is to work on the rear fender tubes and bumper. I need to practice welding on the really high angle notches more.

    Is this something you learned in school in the last few years ??

    Since most steel has a tensile strength in the mid 30,000 psi range a electrode of 60 psi tensile is plenty strong .

    A simple tensile test will prove this out . Have you ever had to have any done or watched any ??

    to those that don`t know the first two digits are tensile strength the third digit is position the 4th is coating

    6010 60,000psi all position coating High Cellulose Sodium 7010 and 8010 just a different tensile rating

    Being that the welding is up to speed
