    I'll know tomorrow.
scraped off all the loose stuff. Brake cleanered it until I ran out, it kept weeping but couldn't really figure out where. Drained it (Impact wrench/gun to the rescue again!), closed it up, went to town scraping off even not loose flakes. Switched to carb cleaner.
    20190525_174522.jpg
    Even wore goggles!
This is almost done. Before - look at the axle housing!
Took out the wire wheels, went at it. Never really found the guilty pin holes. Kinda gave up / changed plans.
I had a new can of POR-15 top coat. No primer required, stops/neutralizes rust, dries thick & glossy & is UV stable.
So I painted it with this stuff. Either it will hold or it will hold for a 2 mile drive. Pretty much decided I'll just drive it to the welding shop about 2 miles from the house & have them weld on a new pumpkin. Ugly, but at $105 I'll just have that done if the paint doesn't do it.
    20190525_185549.jpg
That's mostly dried. Very glossy. Didn't go too onto the axle housing in case welding a new one on happens.
The blurry of the photo is from your evening beverage - not my photo skills.
    Saved the important part.
    20190525_165403.jpg
Will fill with Lucas tomorrow. give the paint plenty of time to dry.
Some Tundra folk report issues using Mobil 1 full synth oil. Score - the $8.99/qt (x3) solution is the better solution!

    Good Sunday morning all.

@Breakfast Taco, hopefully that'll hold. Hard part is finding the source(s). Do you think you have an idea as to the approximate location of the leak? If so, coat that area with JB weld or similar rapid cure epoxy. That's a lot of scale to try to weld a pin hole closed. Maybe they'll braze instead of weld as I can see a hole opening up that just keeps on getting bigger with each pull of the trigger on the welder.

Agreed! I would be worried that it would turn into a cutting exercise rather than a weld. I second the JB weld route.

I would assume welding a new cap on would require cutting the old off. To do that right if it is possible that whole diff should be thoroughly cleaned for debris before welding on a new one. Just a thought.

Took the Tacoma down to NYC for Fleet Week yesterday. Awesome time there honoring all services. Saw the USCG Lawrence Lawson and the USS New York which was made partly with steel from the Towers. Very moving. Encourage all to go. Today will be the best day there. I would go back again today but I’m feeling sick as a dog. Some pics...

They seem to get pin holes along the bottom 1/4 which I find odd being full of oil whereas they're 'empty' above the fill line.
This POR-15 product is a chemical voodoo epoxy sorta product. My pin hole(s) were far too tiny to be apparent even with glasses installed upon my face. The chemical coating is pretty thick & seriously tough. I suspect it will have done the job. I'll give it a few hours that it is hard all the way through, since we had a brief rain over night.
If that doesn't work - it goes to the welding shop. Either they cut & replace, or if there's a good used axle they can get in cheaper swap it all. It's my cheap work truck, just needs to work - cheapest route there wins.

Funny side effect - I'm motivated to do some maintenance on the Tacoma again. Maybe some pretty stuff to it too.

Not yet unfortunately. Already cut mine on Friday with the "old" mower, and was waiting on the guy across the street to say go ahead and cut his again. Don't want to do it without his go ahead. I still need to swap the blades though.

Here is a trick that you could try to find leaks that works extremely well. I've used this on motorcycles many times if your wife, girlfriend, significant other, or yourself has any spray deodorant powder spray it on the affected area to look for leaks and wherever, those pinholes cracks are you will see where exactly where it's coming from.

Look for stains in the powder.

    Minds wandering at this point.

I know it sounds ridiculous but it does work

Hi! I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but anyway ... I installed Clazzio seat covers when I purchased my 2015 in late 2014. Recently the lower drivers seat (which has taken a beating) started to wear and crack. The rest of the set is in new condition. When I contacted Clazzio and explained my situation and asked if I could order just front seat covers they replied and said I could order a replacement for the worn lower seat for only $75. I was surprised as usually you have to order the whole shebang. Just want to send a big "way to go .... Clazzio"! It's rare when a product is supported like this!
