I'd wager it's a high side leak given it doesn't seem to lose more pressure according to my manifold gauges. It's 32years young.... I think the ravages of time got to it

@Speedytech7 i don’t remember the running pressure of r12 but I think it’s similar to r134a. When means a low side leak will start to suck in non Condensibles. Which will make the system not work even with a full charge

Dude, same. Anytime I end up renting somewhere, I always have to clean the place after they've had it cleaned for new tenants. Pull oven out and clean sides of cabinets and oven. Always tons of oil and shit and smell build up. Dump a bucket of ice in the garbage disposal while running. Idea is the sharp ice chunks being flung around clean off all the accumulated shit in there. And it works. I've seen some naaaaaasty shiz in there come off... Anyways

I jumped the pressure switch and it blows cold, but the high side pressure was low so I stopped. I just wanted to avoid having someone reclaim my precious R12 haha

The first C is for Chlorine. Which is what does all the damage to the ozone. Because its a man made chlorine, not a natural one so it doesn’t break down

All I know is my grandpa used to work for a company that manufactured Chlorofluorocarbons, and then they switched to making Hydro-chlorofluorocarbons, apparently the bonded water molecule keeps it less harmful... But now they want to find something else.

I've seen people use Propane in R12 systems, apparently it works quite well

Any vapor that can be condensed and have large temp junps between two pressures can be used
