I think that is true in most states. In North Carolina, passenger vehicles must have a VLT (Visible Light Transmission) of 35% on all windows. Windshields may only have tint on the top 5 inches (AS1 line) and must not be reflective. Truck, SUV, and Vans must have a VLT of 35% on front windows and can have any darkness on the back and rear windows. North Carolina allows reflective tint, however, windows must be no more than 20% reflective.

    You can get clear films

I have a 15% because it was the clearest my tint guy had. I just got a Drs note at my next eye check up

It does help my eyes a lot though.

Originally ordered a covercraft because that’s what I had for my GTI, but the fit was way off (not wide enough). Sent it back and ordered a heat shield. Fit is good but kind of sucks you have to roll it instead of folding it.

Any updates on the fitment? Looking to get one soon and I'm not sure if I should go with the 16-17 or 18+ model.

Had the same issue, bought the 2018+ and it fit terribly. Left a big gap on the edges...exchanged it for the 2016-2017 model and it fits like a glove. It fits so well that initially it's a little tough to place on the windshield behind the handle located on the passenger side. But after you get it behind that it's money. Model # for 2016-2017 model that fits correctly is UV11426SV (silver color).

Dang thing was on back order! Ha I believe I should be seeing it by June 1st. I will report back on how it fits at that time.

Go to Lowes or home depot and buy a roll of Reflextix (the double sided foil bubble wrap stuff) and cut yourself a custom sunshade. You can make ones for the side windows too. I would guess that my truck is almost the outside temperature with all the shades up.

I have Weathertech. Fit is perfect. Seems well made and thicker than the "cheaper" ones. A little pricy but I think worth it.

No more sunshades for me, I had a 3M visor tint added to my upper windshield and 70% 3M Chrystalline to my door windows. I cover my dash with a beach towel when parked. So far my cab temps seem the same or slightly cooler as when I used a reflective sun shade. And the beach towel can be used for other duties.

Driving in the eve and morning towards the sun is much better with improved visibility, the visor tint helps alot. I believe it's 5% 3M tint.

I use this Star Wars sunshade. Fits perfectly for the front windshield and it’s fairly cheap.

I also bought some reflectix and velcro from Home Depot to get my camper. I have two Huskies and it tends to get hot back there. Can use the same concept for the cab. They just Velcro to the carpet liner in the camper.

Windshield tint and be done. Both the wife and I have 50 ceramic on the windshields and 20 on the sides. On a day like today when it’s sunny and 100 here in SC ya don’t need sunglasses or a windshield shade. Won’t own a vehicle without it.

I might have to build the same for my ARE shell side windows. Thanks!

I got the covercraft and EXTREMELY disappointed with the giant gaps around the mirror. For as much as I paid I want a perfect fit! It lets quite a bit of sun in. I would rate 2 out of 5 stars. I almost returned it and the more I think about I wish I did. Just didn’t know if it was worth the hassle. My truck is a 2018

The bag is nice and the shade seems high quality, but the shiny side feels like it would tear easily. Can’t say that it will, but it feels like it could.

I had a bulky folding sun shade for my 2009. Likes how it worked but hated how big it was and where to store it. I have 2 little kids in forward facing seats so storing it in the back meant the kids stepped on it all the time.

Went with the thin twist up one that fits just fine in back between the kids seats. It covers great so win win for me.

@coppil The 2016-2017 fits much better than the 2018 sunshade model did.

Much less open space around the mirror. Shade fits real tight. I’ll be keeping this one.
