My dad has one, but the double cabs have the auto and its kind of a slug. They are nice trucks though! He special ordered his, 2014 2.7L SR5 DCSB in Pyrite mica

 

Awesome! Most of the very high mileage trucks ive seen on this site have been 2wd or prerunners

 

With the notable exceptions like @05prerun82 , there are probably reasons for that! My limited experience in OR abuse has confirmed that likely the last owner (in Cedar Park!) did some OR indulging. But broke nothing that didn't get fixed.

 

That's a nice little rig. So the 2.7L is best with the 6 speed manual?

How many miles did your truck have on it when you got it? Im guessing most of the suspension/front end work you had done was due to the previous owner

Thanks buddy, and they come with a 5spd manual, but yes i think the 4cyl is better with that. Ive driven my dads and mine, and I just prefer the way the manual feels with the 2.7. The auto will absolutely get the job though, my dad tows with his sometimes and he has never had an issue

I got it in Sept 2017, with just over 190K. Records show no actual front end work, and my album shows how beat up those front parts were. But at that age and mileage, that is easily just wear as well. When @Texoma did the shocks, and then the front end, he remarked that everything underneath was really in pretty good shape for the age.

Was it that white double cab? I remember one of them that was a v6 manual double cab

That one with the 1.2million miles was a 2wd with the 2.7. I think his head gasket gave at like 800k or something though, which is crazy

From my long experience, I would love a manual with a 4 cyl. But modern stuff is so good, you really don't get the advantages you used to. But if I wanted to control my torque, I'd love the manual still. Last manual was our Extra Cab 22R motor pickup! Loved that little truck.
