I am just trying to walk in the OPs shoes, in the event they become my shoes i need to know what to do!
if there was another option out there it would make it much much less difficult for me :)
i have been through a TON of BS with these Toyota dealers in my area
like they could give a friggn ratzazz about me you know
i am still very unclear on a TON of stuff regarding this issue

i mean i went so far today as to read the online pdf of my owners manual on how to properly scrap of my truck :(

I intend to go to the local Toyota dealership to see what they have to say, but I'm not optimistic. I figure the best I can expect is them playing the trade-in shell game on a new vehicle.

Once I get my 50 posts, I will list it here for sale. Best offer will take it.

I'm assuming 2002 west coast trucks are out of luck? I'm not expecting a new frame, but it would be nice for them to scrub off the rust and spray on a protective coating or something. :turtleride:

yea nothing for 02 anymore. best thing to do is remove the bed and clean up as much of the back of the frame as possible and rattle can it black, do the front as you can.

i am not a legal expert, but maybe contact your state attorney's office regarding a 'botched warranty job' leading to this situation?
this truck cost you nearly $20k or so new? (not sure which model you have)
there is also a 1-800 # for Toyota customer care one of my local dealer's gave me to call and nearly headed me out the door, I have not yet called them other than to find some hard to find parts and update my information for their records, the person I spoke with was cordial but kept me on hold for the longest time

He did nothing really. Don’t know how. My corolla has done the same drive since he bought it too. No really rust to talk about.

But his old fords and his 96 taco, same drive? Rotted out in 5-6 years

    Update:
Talked to Toyota dealer today, they sent me to corporate. Got zero support from Toyota, said I was out of luck on a buyback. No surprise, but was surprised they didn't offer me something. I recommended a $3-5K credit on a new Tacoma, as a sign of good faith. Explained how the positive things I would say about the company by word of mouth/social media was the best advertising they could get, and well worth the investment in a repeat customer. Response was a $250 credit offer, but only if I filled out a request form and put it through Toyota management.

So, I'm back to offering the vehicle for sell. Will offer here after I get my 50 posts. Needless to say, next truck (or any future vehicle ever) will not be a Toyota.
