I can't really find any exact weight values.. trying to figure out if it would be safe to tow a 2016 Corolla with the taco. The girlfriend wants to get a RAV4, and unfortunately we're basically going to have to drive about 200 miles to get one. Shit.

Now there is "nothing" wrong with her corolla (other than the fact that it sucks), it's just that I refuse to ride 6-8 collective hours in that thing again. That damn car is the most uncomfortable vehicle I have ever ridden in... My back is still hurting from Friday. Driving on the interstate is obnoxiously loud, it has to rev to 5k just to try to pass or do anything. and in general it feels like it's all over the road and unstable... Can't calm my nerves with tunes because the speakers can't even touch the mediocre quality of the stock taco speakers. I could go on and on... but I mean these are the exact reasons that she wants to get rid of it. (Thank God)

So since we obviously can't trade it in if we don't have it with us, my solution was just to tow it up there so we can ride in the comfort of the truck. I know some people don't think the taco is comfortable, but it's day and night better than that damn Corolla haha.

So the family does have a trailer that's large and strong enough to carry a whole vehicle... But unfortunately it's older and we have no idea how much it weighs. I know I need to add the car's weight to the trailer... But eh. So instead I know they have those Dolly things which I believe we can use because to my knowledge the rear wheels on the carola should be free spinning.

Has anyone ever towed a car with a dolly a long-distance? Is it safe?

Damn that’s a bummer. My Gf drives an ‘09 corolla. We both love the thing- doesn’t really have any of the problems you describe. Shame the new ones are that way.
A quick google search put the 2016 corollas curb weight at right around 2,800 lbs. Not knowing how much the trailer will weigh, but you’ll be well in the clear. A tow dolly weighs nothing but they are really a bitch to deal with. If you can spend the extra coin for a full trailer I’d get that

You should give it to me, I’ll take it off your hands. Nice upgrade from my 98 named spitty, spitty, bang bang.

No where near Georgia. But you are more than welcome to take the piece of junk to Colorado and I’ll take it off your hands.

Yeah I really don't understand it to be honest. I mean one of my cousins had one for a while when they were still living here and it seemed fine. I mean I don't know if maybe it was due to that extreme push for outrageous fuel economy...or...

It just feels cheap, sounds cheap and drives cheap. And not the good kind of cheap, the cheap that's too cheap! Haha

I'd rather drive anything 200 miles than tow it 200 miles. Plus if you show up with a 3 year old car on a trailer the trade value is gonna take a big hit. They are going to wonder WHY,and think it is a POS. And in your mind it is, but you need to convince the person you're trading it to that it is the greatest car in the world.

Well obviously we wouldn't show up with it on a trailer haha! We'd take it off when we get close.
    :D

And while towing can be a pain, it seriously is worth it. I refuse to ride that far in her car again..
    :annoyed:

My brother towed my broken corolla 800+ miles on a dolly with his Tacoma just fine.

Well I'll take that into consideration. It would definitely be a little easier than having a long-ass trailer.

There is nothing wrong with Corolla's ,had 3 of them, and all of them are by far more comfy than any Tacoma.

No, no it's not. I'm guessing the new one will feel the same after the first tire change.

Nah, it has newer tires. That was one of my first thoughts. But even still that doesn't solve the seat/power issue.

Base models? I don't know what to tell ya, haha. Her's is the pits. I mean I need a small pillow on my back in the taco sometimes but other than that it is totally fine for long trips. I'm also not a super tall or large guy so maybe that is why?

No I’m not sure what that guy is on about. The corolla is fine for short little drives but once you’re traveling a good distance the Tacoma is by far more comfortable. I had a corolla for 5+ years and the only thing I miss about it is the MPG.

Tow dolly only sucks when you need to back up. I towed my old truck across the country behind the moving truck on one... every damn right-off-the-interstate hotel I stayed in, that I was sure would have a parking lot you could fully circle the building in, I ended up stuck at a dead-end.

Tow-Dollies are fine, until you have to back-up.
    Pain in the ass!
If you are buying a new RAV to drive home I don't see the point in towing it.
It's probably cheaper to drive the 2 vehicles to the dealer 200 miles away.
I think you're High :humble: Maintenance...

Google has a 2016 Corolla @ 2800lbs. A Tacoma will pull that just fine.
