Do you have a completely sideways view of that gap? From a greater distance as well. Trying to figure out if it will look silly or acceptable.

My combo is GFC + DCLB.

Better bet for you would be a cabrack and cut it to fit. Check out @riz_atx setup

All data collected is with GFC closed up, if I had it open and it was hot I'd just open the windows. Looking at cooling it down when closed to keep stuff cooler inside (surfboards, float tube, cooler, etc)

I have black side panels, which will change the data a little compared to other colors. My buddy down the street has white panels so I'll pull from his as well when it gets warmer.

It’s either cut up a cab rack or order the habitat and have a good sized gap between the camper and the rack. My buddy with the long bed wishes he went that route

    Me either at first

    Same

This is basically the options if you want to keep it. I'm glad I chopped mine. It fits the solar panel and maxtracs. Works for me

I had to get a 20' 4x12 pressure treated beam the other day, had no problem getting it cross town. Don't think I would go on freeway with something that long though. No idea on price but got to be comparable to other rack systems.

I was thinking of some sort of eye bolt for a tie down but the brackets I got work great.

Kinda got them in a trade. I really like them. I've been a Yakima round bar guy for last 30yrs or so, so these will take a little getting used to. Do miss the extra real estate the Yakima bars gave me, where the bars extended out on the sides. Good for hanging things off of. But these will be more modifiable for solar panels and whatever else you want to throw up there. They can certainly hold some weight. Just have to see what GFC comes up with.

This might be a stupid question, but does anyone know if having a solid rear panel (no window) is illegal in CA or OR?

It would essential make my rear view mirror useless. Want to make sure I’m above board before I switch my reservation to windowless.

I know for some commercial vehicles, not having a rear view window is acceptable (semi trucks, etc). But for passenger/consumer vehicles, is it required?

All pickups are classified as commercial vehicles in California.

Unless you have made modifications to render it a “passenger vehicle” per the state guidelines, and had DMV inspect your truck and sign off on it. You’ll see a commercial vehicle fee tagged onto your registration as well, that’s partly why it costs so much to register trucks here.

You’ll be fine without the rear window.

Yes sir. You just need an inspection and the title. They back of your setup needs to look “habitable” to the inspector. Mine passed inspection, but I didn’t know I needed the title in order to change the vehicle type, so I didn’t finish the process.

It saves a few bucks on the registration, idk if it’s worth the hassle. Plus your truck become illegal the moment you take your camper off. A nice thing about commercial means we can park in commercial truck parking only.

Is anyone seeing this on their campers? Powder coat rubbing off on the top extrusions where it makes contact with the bottom?

Honestly yes. Mine was pretty much delivered like that. It’s gotta make contact somewhere I suppose. It’s aluminum so no corrosion issues there.

Interesting. I’ll probably put a strip of scotch padding down now that I see this.

I have a GFC on order and need to make sure a device installed in the bed of my Tacoma does not interfere with where the space frame brackets connect to the bed. Could someone with a GFC on a Tacoma 3rd gen DCSB measure the locations where the space frame brackets connect to the passenger side bed rails. Please take measurements from the cab wall of the bed to the centerline of each of the space frame brackets. Please include a measurement of the width of the brackets. Thanks.
