Do you have any pictures or can tell us how far away the bug deflector sits from your hood? I was looking into the WeatherTech one because it doesn't touch the hood at all (lets water and soap from washing my truck run down easily). But if your deflector also has a gap, I'd probably get that one as I like the look of yours more.

It does not touch the hood. Buy it.

Without the rivets. And the fake bead locks. While I'm at it, those fender flares with the fake bolts too!

Can anyone pls provide a Toyota PN# for the bug/hood deflector for a Gen 3 2017 Taco?? Dealership says they cannot find one listed for Gen 3 Tacos. Tried an AVS but did not like the gaps on the passenger side. My 2007 Taco had the stock deflector and 170K miles and looked like new - kept it coated with Liquid Glass. Thanx in advance.

Same here. If the deflector does not have a lip sending the air over the cab is a waste of money, I installed the AVS Bug deflector II on all my trucks. Easy install on the Tacoma. Little more involved on the new Ranger,

I like my AVS bug deflector. It does its job, it goes nicely with my ARB Summit bullbar (bumper), and it was freeeeee

I have the AVS type that screws into the underside of the hood.
    Also AVS vent shades.

I wouldn't have gotten them for sure (I'm a cheapskate), but they came with the truck.
And I've found I like them for the functionality. A lot. Especially the shades.
I don't mind the looks at all.

I tried installing the AVS bug deflector on my 19 and the damn thing touches the grill surround on the driver side. Tried pushing it toward the hood and heat gunned it and still touches =/.

Would you know the AVS part number for this? I can't seem to find this exact one. I really like it. :)

Huge no. I had one on my '01 Taco and all it does is collect leaves and shit under it. When I took it off the paint was in rough shape. It serves no real purpose whatsoever.

I tried for a while to find one that looked good on this truck and that did not touch the paint on the hood.

Because of the way the hood curves at front where it meets the grille surround and headlights, most bug deflector just didn't look good. The AVS models attach underneath the hood but I didn't like the way they come over the headlights and I heard reviews that the deflector damages the paint where it curves around the hood.

The other styles available that only cover the hood and not the headlights looked better but installation involves attaching stuff to the top of the hood.

OP, I think it looks great and different, I've had them before and they are very functional. If you don't want it, I'll buy it from you as I don't have one currently on my truck!

So I have finally I decided to add a “AVS Bugdeflector 2” to my taco.

I do like how it looks without it better, but I have never had so many rocks/chips in the windshield and the hood in any of my trucks/cars I’ve had. I had a second cracked windshield not even 2 years into the ownership, I’m still rocking it and not replacing till it gets super bad.

I had the “Bugdeflector 2” on my ranger and I honestly never had a rock hit my windshield in 7 years.

I like how the edge of the deflector is angled up, looks like it will create a lot of wind deflection so small rocks and bugs won’t hit the hood and the windshield.

The biggest reason why I put it on is, on Thursday I’ve spent 10 hours doing 2 stage cut polish and then 2 coats of 10h zombie serum ceramic followed by zombie ultra top shield. I wanna protect all that hard work, haha! I also applied the ceramic coating on the topshield on the deflector, blends in pretty nicely I think.

I had the same issue. I emailed a photo and they shipped a replacement. It fit much better.
