    Hello,
I'm in a bit of a blunder right now. I would highly appreciate someone's advice from someone who has done this modification with these specific seats or has a good idea on how to make it work. I bought some seats from 04 Scion Xb because they were in decent condition and fairly cheap because I wanted to do the bucket seat swap instead of having a bench seat. I got around to it today and my friend and I ran into a problem where we couldn't figure out how to do the swap properly. We simply thought we could cut off the feet from both seats and then weld the feet from the bench seat onto the Scion seats and it would be good to go. But, we weren't sure as to how that would work because we cut only the feet off from the Scion seats and place them in the truck to see as to how it would sit, but it looked strange. I'll provide pictures to demonstrate what we cut and which feet we're talking about and where the holes in the interior are. Thank you! And, just for reference, the red circles are for the feet and the holes, and the blue circles are for the seat belt mount.

Not sure what all is going on in these photos. Looks like you chopped off part of the feet on the xB seats?

I haven't done these seats specifically, but it shouldn't be different than any other seats. I would cut or grind off the rivets holding the rest of the xB mounting feet on, so you just have flat rails. Do the same thing to your old Taco seats, carefully because you need to re-use the feet. Bolt the old feet down to the floor of your truck where they're supposed to go, then place the xB seats on top of them. You may need spacers or shims to get everything lined up and leveled out. Tack weld the xB seat rails to the old feet in the truck, then unbolt them and fully weld them outside of the truck.

When I had my first gen, I just removed the rails from the Scion seats and put on the tacoma rails. The only pain is getting the bearings to seat right. Wasn't to hard after I figured it out. Just grind off the bearing stop pull off the rails then put a spot weld after.

Thank you, I'll be sure to remove the rivets!

Wow this is extremely helpful! So, when you removed the rails how did go about bolting the seats? If I can make myself clear, the Tacoma bench seat only has 2 bolts to bolt down the seats, would I need to add another 2 bolts so that the seats don't move as much? Or are the 2 bolts fine? And once everything is bolted down, how's the seat height if you remember? Is it about the same as the bench seat?

I guess I should have said I was replacing tacoma bucket seats with scion bucket seats, not sure if the bench seats would have 4 rails total (2 for driver 2 for passenger). So when I slid the Tacoma rails on the Scion seats they matched up perfect for all 8 bolt holes.

I wouldn't recommend only mounting only 2 bolts just for safety. The Scion seats sat a little lower but where much more comfortable and looked better I thought.

This is the Forum I used when I did it to mine. There is also a link to a video in there that shows the process I used.

I see now. The bench seat definitely makes things difficult, but with enough thinking and ingenuity my friend and I should be able to come up with something. I might make a tutorial just in case anyone is interested. But, thank you a ton! This gives us a better idea of what we can do to make this swap work because we couldn't figure it out and nothing was open yesterday, so that we could buy materials to experiment with.
