Ok guys.. I am newbing it up and need some help here.

I've tried to compress a jacknut two times and it's not fully compressing and crushing it properly.

Here is about as far as it goes:

    Screen Shot 2019-05-26 at 11.11.00 PM.jpg

I took a 3rd nut and compressed it outside of the truck to show you guys. The other two in my truck -- I had to pry out with some pliers lol.

I am not sure if I am squeezing too hard or too quickly... I have the rivnut tool Meso recommended on his site and I've basically destroyed all my jacknuts besides 1. @MESO is going to hook it up and send me some more.. I am just not sure wtf I am doing wrong here and I know this should be a fairly simple install :(

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
So, this is how ya use that jammer.
You thread the nut on there, place into center of hole and give it a squeeze, until the tool bottoms out, at this point you screw down on the Nut by twisting the round dial at the back. This snugs the tool back up on the Nut, allowing you to give it another squeeze.
NOTE- just squeeze it until it locks down, if you squeeze with all your might, the tool can tend to bound up by the compression force applied.
    Hope this helps man!

You can’t get the Nut to secure tightly with one squeeze. It requires two.
Which is why you have to spin the dial to take the slack out so that the river gun can apply more pressure.

Makes sense.. I also think on my first squeeze I was going to hard and it was pulling the bolt through the nut. Hopefully I can find these locally somewhere tomorrow or Meso's package will make it shortly and I can try again..

The gun should have an adjustment. Some do maybe not all. I use nematic ones that do and will adjust to the depths of inset nuts. Same with my rivet gun. Something to look into.

This is what I got from the instructions:

    https://www.amazon.com/Surebonder-8...F8&qid=1540957790&sr=1-3&keywords=rivnut+tool

The top adjuster screws the tool into the bolt.. the bottom one adjusts the pull which doesn't seem to help at all in this situation (I think).. adjusting it doesn't crush the jack nut anymore.

I think the key from what @Built2Ride is saying is to crush it nice and slowly the first time.. then dial in the top screw adjustment to back the jack nut to the tool and crush it again.

I was planning on a batch at the end of this month, but had some other projects take priority. Now I have them done, I’ll start another run on these molle racks.

Can the jacknut be installed with a nut, washer and an impact wrench?
Local homedepot only has a rivet gun.

Only stores that would maybe have these locally..would be Fastenal, Grainger, and Northern Tool.

@MESO What up Stew, this is JB. Any chance you could chime in and let these cats know where you sourced your Riv Nuts?

Finally got this up! I went through some hell but once I "fixed" the jack nut tool it was easy.

So the issue I ran into was the tool itself, as well as my inexperience. The initial inserting of the jack nut into the threads was fine, but I didn't realize it wasn't really going passed the 3rd or 4th thread because it threaded to the end of the tool before the 'initial crushing'. Afterwards the tool wouldn't bite back into the jack nut to allow me to crush it further.

After ruining 2 of the 4 jack nuts supplied, Meso posted the exact make/model/manufacturer where he gets them in this thread. I put an in order them due to my impatience (and they were only a few hours away) -- they shipped it the same day and luckily I received them the next day.

Moral of the story -- check your jack nut tool and make sure you can thread the bolt all the way.

You can test it by inserting the jack nut backwards to on to tool and just handing tightening a bit to check the threads. To "fix" my threads I threw some grease on it and put a jack nut on backwards and then used a wrench to go through the threads and "clean" them up lol -- as you can see it worked!

I'd also like to give @Built2Ride a shoutout for some awesome moral support and anyone else I PM'd/pestered about this.

I have a box of jack nuts and I believe Meso sent some as well -- so if anyone needs some extras let me know!

    Screen Shot 2019-05-31 at 8.41.18 PM.jpg

Really loving the black MOLLE pouches + rack + head liner combo.. got some para cords on order and some black trim as well for the rack.

Thanks to @MESO for once again providing excellent products and customer support!

Another option for that type of nut are called "nutserts". Very similar, and possibly more readily available. We use them a lot in the door/lock industry.
