Went down to the body shop 2day to find out progress of the truck. Here are some more pics of damage. Still awaiting insurance company's call. They guy at the body shop said it could be fixed for $8000.00 ! I am going to fight it!

I think he wanted it to be higher to make sure it's totalled.

I used to do body work years ago and I don't see how it could be fixed for $8000. I bet the parts alone would be close to that.

This is what the guy at the body shop said he could fix it for. He said he could get a whole front end for $4,000.00 and put it back together. I said I want new Toyota parts! He said I would be looking at $16,000.00

Well then, tell the insurance company it's unacceptable for them to use replacement parts.

    A few bolts are different.
Dude $8000? no way! Wait for the insurance guy before getting mad/excited. The inside of the engine compartment looks way worse then mine did. I'm going to bet on the insurance guy saying F that here's your check. (take into account the rear damage where the lady originally hit you to knock you into the ups truck)
    Edit: Demand Toyota Parts Only!!

I don't think the insurance company will try to force you to use used parts to fix it. The body shop dude is probably just saying that's what he could fix it for in case you wanted to take the insurance money, fix the truck, and buy a big screen tv with what's leftover.

They will most likely get new parts for you (if they decide to fix it), their service is superior over most carriers. If they raise your rate on renewal, PM me =)

Isn't that some frame damage right there? What were they going to do, saw it off and weld it back together? Screw that...
