if i was local I'd meet you at that dealership and flash it in the parking lot (after calling the service mgr over to watch).

The Tactrix is definitely more useful since you can also customize settings with it.

Read through most of this thread and did not come up with an answer. Is there a specific update for the 18's? I am battling with my dealer to get them to do an actual health check on my truck but they keep saying there is no reason to, there arent any updates available for this concern anyways blah blah blah. I am about to go in and speak with the SM to get them to pull the current ECM flash part number and compare it to what is available to see if I can get somewhere.

    The first pic in Post 1. :D That is @Ruggybuggy 's 2018.

On most 2018 MTs, 04A70 was the stock tune. 04A71 is the TSB tune. It was said that the TSB tune was applied on the line to the late 2018 Tacos.

The Fusion OBD or Carista apps will tell you the current ECU ID. A Tactrix cable / OVT and TS / Flash Manager will also if you know someone.

If the key entry was messed up (didn't replace the EXE file first, you'll need to completely uninstall / reinstall.

OMG after reinstalling I got it... I do not see this in original text The image that starts with "Solution:"(did I miss it?)

Install TechStream through this first page on this thread. (do not launch program)
Refer to my image after install if it loads. The text will not copy paste.

If all els fails just keep reinstalling everything and go though the instructions over and it will work. I can now take "go argue with dealership" off of my to do list!

Edit: I took it for a test drive after the update and put OVTune 93 octane back on it... Very very nice and worth the headache!!!!!!!!!!

Good point. That step is skipped in the OP. My bad as I wrote that up for @Ruggybuggy to edit in. The video on the obdii360.com link does give those details though.

I will ask Ruggybuggy to add the step.

Would anyone that has had the dealership apply this update be willing to send me your VIN number? I spent the better part of Friday trying to get two of the local dealerships to apply the update but neither of them wanted to do it because "its for an automatic" and they dont want to "risk it". They encouraged me to contact Customer Care and get their approval for the update then they'll "gladly" apply it for me.

I figure if I have ammo (Vin's with this update) I might have a better chance of getting somewhere with Toyota.

    Thank you in advance!

If I remember correctly the same update is also for a power steering surge, that might be an easier way to get the Dealer to do it.

Correct... for better luck with the dealership... go with "TSB-0125-18" (https://toyotatalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/T-SB-0125-18.pdf). This one performs the same update to the ECU but specifically mentions the MT. I believe this is the one that got my dealership to perform the update.

Thank you both for that information! I'll pass this along to the dealership and see what happens, hopefully they'll make it happen. Only thing I see with that TSB is it does not list the 18's. The dealerships around here operate in black and white and don't understand how to "work the system" lol

Let us know how it goes. I am due for my 10k service and figured I would try and convince the dealer to install the update. I have a 2018 as well.

Just took my 2017 OR into the dealership today and had the TSB-0125-18 update done. Initial drive home from the dealer ship went well, seemed slightly smoother, but could just be all in my head. Will have to drive a bit more to tell for sure.

I updated my truck last August. I can say that it def. drives better. I have noticed some things creeping back in however. I still have s hard stumble at 2500 rpm when cold. I just did the accumulator delete and has made a huge difference in my shifting. Everything is now predictable with my clutch pedal and all shifts are smooth.

@Ruggybuggy updated the OP to add the steps for replacing the maienu.exe file when installing TS.

Hopefully that makes the installation easier?
