1995.5 Tacomas only - how many are still out there

Yeah. They're very '70s - '80s retro. Similar to the up-market wheel-covers on some '80s K-cars, but with the Toyota logo in the center.
I was surprised, as most everything '90s had gone to alloy or plastic, and often the painted alloys look like plastic anyway!

with a production date of 02/95 was this perhaps one of the VERY first ones out for sale?
has someone here posted one made before this date

my nephew and i were gonna flip it over onto its side (engine was already pulled) but the yard supervisor advised us not too
was able to pound the frame nice and good where reachable and it seemed VERY solid even with a shitton of corrosion onit
plates had it registered as a Farm Truck in NE county 22

dug all the way to the interior fan blower, A/C condenser and got a peek at the heater core before time to call it a day

yes, bluegray parts
dashboard (has a stain,no noticeable cracks) was not as hard to remove as thought it might with aged plastic bits
rear slider window (missing inside latch) pure toyota glass
rear plastic interior piece under slider
door stop limiter to experiment as to why mine is making me squeaky sick, shit there is a ton to pull off my door panels if i wanna replace it

somebody already took the passenger door since last time I checked it out earlier this week lol, left the door glass though?

the headliner looked in good condition (as did oh chit handle) but ran out of time to keep digging

i put the fan and evaporator coil in another car closer just in case needed to go back for it... I wonder if my interior fan/motor are as dirty as this was
I suppose I could see into it if I just remove glovebox?

 

Planning on adding AC? I think I posted a thread here a couple years ago about the AC install in my '96 Tacoma.

no, i have A/C ... its just been acting real weird this year, not sure where the rattle is coming from yet, first weird gremlin i think i have ever had!
just wanted to dig behind a dash and see whats what, and how hard its gonna be to remove and see what's loose back way back in there

Figured I would throw my truck in as well.

1995 Tacoma Xtracab 2wd (5-lug)
-> 2.4L 4-cyl with column shift auto tranny
-> 301k miles as of 5/28
-> build date of 05/95

I inherited the truck from my father-in-law, who was the original owner, last August and have been slowly fixing issues he just "dealt with". They have all been minor and expected for a 20+ year old vehicle: full tune-up (cap, rotor, wires, plug, air and fuel filters, PCV valve), new radiator and coolant (never changed!!), new front wheel bearings, a few interior bits, a couple of vacuum lines, and a new cat. The truck runs and drives fantastic, AC blows cold, and goes 300 miles between fill-ups (~21-22 mpg) with a 70/30 mix of city/highway. All that is left is for me to fix an intermittent air bag light and get new paint.

 

Is that front bumper from pre-Tacoma? I did not see Tacoma with blinkers inside the chrome. Or maybe it was 2x4 deal.

 

The front bumper is OE, but I don't think the lower facia is. His parents have a 300 acre ranch (that they call "The Farm"...go figure), and the lower facia was torn off around '05 or so while out and about in one of the fields. As I recall, he found the lower in a local junkyard for $10.

From what I see on all pictures that bumper style was used only on 2WD Tacoma - maybe Toyota kept it from Pickup design. All 4x4 models have blinkers in lower valance.

IMHO unless lights are armored, it is not wise to put them on a bumper - the part that supposed to take impact on low speed "bump".

I find myself checking the first page (now and then) for updates and have only seen a 03/95
...just want to know if I maybe found one of the 1st that is soon to be in the grave

 

A 2/95 is being parted in a junk yard near Omaha ....

if you got a frame anything like that poor truck its tough as nails
that hammer would not break it and I tried !! my arm is still a bit sore...
if only I could go to a used lot and pound a 1st gen for sale frame like that to make sure
and it was probably never undercoated because of the medium holes in the bed (usually an undercoating here includes under the bed, cab and rocker panels)

 

1995 4cyl 2.7l 4wd 230k checking in. Used it as a oilfield truck to drive till the wheels fell off and they still havent. \o/

 

1995,4x4 manual transmission 230,000 miles 3.4 engine still running like new

 

This one is 6/96, the one I had before it was identical but 2WD and a 1995.5. Same factory colors and equipment but the 2WD had a sunroof. I sold the 2WD to my brother in law cheap. Those 2WD V6 trucks perform a lot better than the 4WD's. The 2WD is riddled with small dents everywhere because the big ones were beat out with a claw hammer and a body dolley by me. The previous owner had a very upset ex girlfriend and he bought the truck wrecked from his grandpa who drove it drunk through a fence and a field. It's got around 300K miles, runs better than a Rolex, and was due for a timing belt about a decade ago. I wonder if he's changed the oil since I sold it to him? Lol
