Unless the rain that we've recently had has made the trail all crappy? Anyone know the trail conditions up there?

I might be down for next weekend, gotta check with the wife. I ran the regular Pilot Rock 2N17 trail maybe 2 months ago and it was still an easy trail but it's definitely gotten rutted out from the weather...haven't done 2N17x in maybe 3 months and it was the same story (harder trail made a little bit harder from recent weather). Still doable with 4wd though.

The main tough part of 2N17x is the very last hill climb that connects it to the regular 2N17 trail, it's pretty steep and loose. Both trails are only really made difficult though because of how rutty they are, not so much rocks or shelfs or things like that. And the typical long hill climbs that made 4wd a necessity.

Im confused whether or not you guys are talking about Pilot Rock Truck Trail (2N33) near Silverwood or 2n17 in big bear?? Is 2n17 also called pilot rock?

Ya I hear you I guess the entrepreneur inside me wanted to create a system and overcomplicate things lol

I was bout to post whose down for 2N17X tomorrow

Pilot rock 2N17x Trail is accessed thru the main trail 2N33. Entrance is a steep incline but I did it stock and a few trucks did it stock too. 4wd with locker needed

Last time trail conditions weren't bad after the rain in April. It should still be safe and super doable. Rain probably helped water the track for us if anything

Less traffic than cleghorn and tosses you out usually in Arrowhead

The harder portion of Pilot Rock is marked as 2N17x, the regular/easier Pilot Rock might be 2N33...I thought it was 2n17 but I could be wrong. It's right near Silverwood Lake.

I’m down for a Pilot Rock Tun. I’ve never done that trail but I’ve heard about it. Been wanting to explore that area more anyway.

Can’t next weekend though. I have an install scheduled.

Wasnt bad at all. Weather made it a little slicker but the overall terrain was fun - Stock & Modded 4x4s should be fine. Rear locker for Tacos required unless you bypass all challenges. One hill has multiple lines and on the tricky one I was struggling to get up the hill and I got an ATF Temp Warning light and the vehicle shut off. It wasnt too much spinning at all, but I was in 4LO & Locked for a while already. Incline was 30+ on this part which maybe caused that shut off, but I just turned it on, used crawl control and made it up like a nothing. Dam tech beat me.

Heres a clip of the ZR2 struggling with the front locker, he eventually got a line and made it out

Hell yeah, looks fun. In all honestly if @schecter517 doesn’t finish what he needs to, I’m still down to head up that way this weekend if a couple of you guys are down

With that said though, I don’t have a locker :(

I'm up for a Pilot Rock 2n17x run next Saturday if that works for you guys that are interested...I can't do Sunday unfortunately, at least I don't think so (will know for sure in a day or two)

Ran into @Trd420 on the road today, he said he'd be up for a run this weekend too.

Should I edit this for Pilot Rock/2N17X for this Saturday 6/1?

Side note, I wont be able to make any runs any time soon. Had some unexpected expenses pop up over the weekend which will take away from my "having fun on the weekends fund" Total bummer but it is what it is. I guess that's what comes with owning a house.

Anyway, I will add the info for this run to the first post.

I think it would be better to edit the first post just letting people know what the thread is about. i.e. Just a bunch of people getting together to off road with an organized monthly meet up, but is also a place to post if they are going on a run and want some people to potentially go with... and then Let people know to check the Google Doc to see what this months meet is going to be and let them know to sign up if they want to join. (As long as @DarthPow or someone is still down to keep that updated).

I don't think we should bother you too much about editing the first post on the thread every other day lol, as long as it says what is going on in the thread people should be able to figure it out lol

Most of the hard stuff on Pilot Rock has bypasses, some steep climbs might be a little tricky without a rear locker depending on how slick it is but should still be doable, not any worse than the stuff we saw on White Mountain.

There's a rocky section leading to the actual big rock that Pilot Rock is named after, it's a pretty gnarly rocky climb but leads to a really cool spot to stop and have a break or lunch. I've done it a few times but it's one of those obstacles that you need skids and sliders for or you'll likely do some damage. The backside of it though is easy and you can always go around it and come up that way to get to that spot. I'll probably play that obstacle by ear until we get there.

I have some big life expenses myself coming up later this year and the last thing I need are big repair bills lol.

Yeah, We'll have to see the trail conditions and what everyone is comfortable with. I know everyone might not have sliders and such so we'll see lol.

I just started to update the google doc for now so people can sign up if they want to. So far its just @eon_blue and I and i think @420taco (?).
