Sometimes it's a baby thing. My child didn't like to latch and wouldn't get enough from breast feeding. Now she was her mother's 3rd so it wasn't a huge deal to her at this point. My sister is having trouble breast feeding her newborn and is beating herself up over it.

Was talking to mom yesterday about this and I have a theory that has no scientific backing or research but from my observations it correlates.

So I was adopted and completely bottle fed formula and a lot of parents these days want to hurry up and get back to work or have to. To me this may be a trend towards baby's now adapting to wanting the bottle over natural. My sister according to my mom didn't breast feed well and had to go on the bottle. Maybe babies are getting some sort of pre disposition to the taste and ability to bottle feed over natural because it tastes better or the bottle is easier to get food from. You could even say an adaptive evolution of sorts if you believe in that sort of thing.

Also you have a couple of preme so naturally they may not be up to snuff so to speak. Plus if the Mrs. is home and not at the hospital then it's hard for her to be there when the babies need food all the time so if the hospital is supplementing that could be affecting breast feeding also possibly (just a guess). She doesn't need to beat herself up over it.
