Turkey hunting and BS welcome!

Anybody ever use those turkey fans you stand behind and stalk a bird with?

 

Have never, would never. They will show you exactly how stupid turkeys actually are.

 

I had to ask. Just crazy to just walk up behind a turkey shield and plug a bird haha! Not saying it won't work, I've never tried it.

 

Oh...it works. I know folks that have done it many times. I just would rather not kill a turkey that way. If it would make you happy, have at it (as long as it's legal).

Its legal where I hunt and I don't have a problem with people doing it its just not my thing.

 

Id be more scared of some other hunter blasting you with a fan...

Rifles are legal here and I’d rather not take a 22-250 (preferred turkey long distance round) in the face from somebody that saw a gobbler from the next ridge over lol

As far as being a purist I’m still a low intermediate turkey hunter and will generally do anything legal to take a heavily pressured public land bird

 

yeah no kidding! The regs here are kind of vague.

I fully admit to being somewhat of a purist when it comes to methods of turkey hunting. I do have strong opinions about some of the methods that have become popular over the last 10-15 years. I try to keep myself in check about expressing my opinions too aggressively, but sometimes they get the best of me. It boils down to the fact that I love turkeys and think they deserve to die with respect. And, to me, getting killed while attacking a plastic turkey because they just can't help themselves, is not an honorable death.
These are just my thoughts and don't expect anyone to put much stock in them. Just an old turkey hunter rambling.

 

As long as it's legal I got no problem with it.

Interesting fact. Turkey hunting is the most dangerous form of hunting because of the amount of hunters shot while doing it. Learned that on Meateater podcast this week.
