I traded my hot hatch for the tacoma, a Ford Focus st. I am glad I did. The car was fun but it was limited in capabilities hauling stuff and wasn't the most comfortable on trips. I did get a MT transmission 18 TRD Sport cause shifting is fun.

only 2 cars? I've got three. i cannot part with my 07 xterra i have owned since day 1. i have a 2017 4x4 jeep patriot for my DD. And the 2019taco 4x4 for the tough stuff and hauling. I have had 3 cars now for about 2 years and it's not bad. i do all my own maintenance. i go through cycles where i am changing oil on all of them, then nothing for a few months. LOL

This is at the expense of easily getting in and out of parking spaces, your garage and generally navigating around town. I too had an F150 and it was great for a month and then got really old after that as each move outside of a highway or B road had to be carefully calculated - its all about what you are willing to deal with. Yeah the Tacoma is smaller but it makes everyday driving life much easier.

One thing full size trucks DONT do, is shrink around you like full size cars tend to (the German ones anyways)

Sold my 18 TRD Sport AC 4WD outright and got a 2019 Lexus IS300 AWD. Impossible to make comparisons because they are totally different vehicles but I'm two months into the Lexus and it fits me so much better. The Tacooma was a fine truck but there was just something I didn't like about it day to day.

Back in 2015 I traded my high mile 06 Tacoma SR5 on a low mile 10 Frontier Pro-4x. No regrets, I got a nearly new truck for $12k and it has been great.

None of the minis are particularly reliable and you do know the new ones are a BMW product right?

Sooo.... apparently I regretted it more than I thought. Traded the Subaru in for a '19 TRD Sport this weekend. I will say, in my pitiful defense, I was able to get into a manual transmission this time, and it's so far waaaaaaaaay more fun to drive than the auto i had previously. Really enjoying it, and just decided life's too short to be 'practical'. I'll follow a budget when I'm dead....

No, never even heard of that. I’ve heard of the tick on the 5.4L’s and my F150 had that pretty bad. But not on the Stang

Haha, we traded a BMW for a VW with a clean title/Carfax from a dealer. We got hosed. After a few years I noticed the paint coming off the fenders. Turns out the entire front end of the car was replaced at some point due to a wreck. Dealers are assholes of the highest order. Get good at spotting repairs and sell your truck privately. You will get more money, and will have negotiating leverge when searching for a fun New vehicle.

@Roddy13 It's comments like your that confuse me. I hear the 3rd gen is the best truck ever, never looking back, etc. Then I hear comments like yours a lot about lack of power, transmission is shit, etc. Either the 3rd gen fan boys are not owning up to the truck'a short comings or forum people are lying. Thats the reason I havent traded in my 2015.

An easier mantra when you're a little older and have a bit of stability, but one with which I'm fully on board. I kept dancing back and forth between truck and car (supra to f150 to wrx to tundra to 135i to tacoma) about every 3 years. When I wanted a sporty car again, I just decided to keep the truck and buy a car. Now I have the '16 Tacoma 4x4 OR and got an M2 competition late last year. And to be honest, the M2 is the daily driver, the taco is the bad weather and weekend project car. Not really practical advice if you're carrying car payments, but as you say, life is short.

There's a poll on here right now where 87% of 2016 and 2017 owners like their truck so keep your 2015 we don't care .

Just traded my 2016 SR5 access cab for a 2019 DCSB TRD sport. I loved the 2016. I am equally delighted with the 2019. I have had 11 Toyota trucks since 1977. The 2016 and 2019 are the best of all I have owned. I’m comfortable in the seat. No complaints with engine and tranny. Just returned from a 200 mile trip and enjoyed every mile. Can’t wait to get back into it every day.

4Runner Trail wheels and Toyo Open Country ATII tires 265-70-17. Cosmetic stuff like Pro grille and OffRoad black bumper trim, vinyl delete on side, added hood graphic, OEM tube steps.
Or everyone has a different level of tolerance for the various characteristics/quirks/capabilities of the vehicles.

I personally could not stand the buzzing vibration at 1800-2100rpm that is inherent in these trucks (I've driven at least 10-15 of them and they ALL did it), nor did I like the transmission having to shift out of 6th gear at the slightest of inclines or application of throttle. Others don't mind either of those things. I traded mine in last week on a Sierra 1500 Denali with the 6.2L motor that isn't perfect by any stretch (no keyless entry or start? WTF?). But it fits my particular requirements better.

New Gen will always be better than old Gen. Both will have it's pluses and minuses but in general new model will always be better than the old one, no matter what people here or anywhere else fantasize about.
