Quite the late notice. My daughter's soccer team did not make the finals Monday, which frees up my schedule. I haven't tried Schubarth Loop North and east of Woodland Park so I am going to check that out.

These trails are easy. Just going for a drive to get out and smell the pine trees. I am up for other suggestions however I think many trails elsewhere are closed due to snow and/or mud.

Anyone want to host a BFH (sledgehammer) party?

I need to make some room for my new tires (going from 31.5" to 32") and I'm pretty sure they will rub some in the front. I'm not sure how much bashing I'll have to do, but I assume pinch weld and heat gun the liners to push them back. I'm pretty confident I won't need to cab mount chop.

Super bonus if you have a fork lift and we can really flex out the rear suspension so I can see what's going on there.

 

Cab mount chop isn't a thing with the superior 1st gens.

 

I used the broad side of my split maul as my bfh. Works great, but be careful on the backswing!

 

We ended up doing almost this same thing on Monday, but we turned right and went North on Rampart Range back to 67.

 

I had to cut part of mine for 35s

 

Sadly, I don't have a maul... but my friend does.

I hope I never get to 35's. I hope 32 is the biggest I go. I only went bigger than the 31.5" to get a Load Range C tire.

 

Better be careful. You're already one step down the slippery slope.

 

Like Ryan said, the vastly superior 1st Gen doesn't require a CMC, unless you’re running 35s like the ones on my truck. Even then, I only had to shave it a bit.

One thing that I would recommend is to pull the coilover so that you can get to full bump without fighting the spring. Stuff the tire and make sure you clearance enough to cover full lock to full lock at full bump and you should be good to go. With your 32s it should be pretty short work.

I was thinking the same thing of pulling the coilovers and utilizing the jack to get full compression. Should be easy enough to throw jackstands under the front end to be able to go lock to lock and just snug down two lug nuts during the tire on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off... This is the perfect time to combine with a power steering fluid flush.

Do you even pull back the inner liner or just hammer on top and hope for the best? I bought new clips (red/blue for flares and black square ones for the liner) just in case I get in too deep.

 

Don't worry, I'll probably bug you to go camping Father's day weekend when I'm on my way out to Oregon... Unsure of exact date yet.

pull the liner, hammer the pinch weld ridge down, or cut it off and paint it. replace liner.
or just shit can the liner, cause you'll have 285's on soon, then 34's/35's

 

actually, keep the liner you'll need part of it to keep the debris and crap from coming thru the fender and into the door opening. Becomes a real issue when the shit turns to ice and the door won't open.
