Way easier with the case out than fighting the floor board with it in the truck. Ask me how I know.

Yea... not like I can do anything else while I wait for TG to fix their mistakes anyway. Haha. Might as well get these on the way too.

    A few tweaks
So I'm finally ready to put this beast back in, but I have a small concern.

The rear transfer case only has about 1/2" of spline engagement into the dual adapter. Is this normal?

I don't think I could have done anything wrong!

Seems a little scary to me - this is the most critical mating - or sees the most torque...

I don’t know about that, but either way, I would not want it if you don’t have to cut a huge hole in your floorboard.

With the number of times I had to put everything shifter and linkage related together and take it apart to fix something, I would have had to pull the cases every time if there wasn’t a gaping hole to work through.

Cutting the hole takes 5 min. Dropping the cases...

    My $0.02

Doesn’t bolt up exactly the way it used to, but it’s in there and it’s solid. Wasn’t a big deal at all.

how much clearance do you have between the shifter linkage and the fabbed floor?

I have a feeling doing the floor stuff will be my least favorite part

Maybe 1/2 - 3/4” above it and a couple inches on the sides. There is a ton of movement to the passenger side from torque.

yeah I figured some clearance would be necessary for movement

Unfortunately Inchworm is no longer is business, Marlin Crawler is the only bolt in option for 2nd gens but is out MONTHS on wait time. Only other option is a Trail-Gear adapter using an older 1st gen Tacoma chain drive tcase (mounting holes have slightly different pattern but internals are the same).

Or there is the option of running two mini tcases, but that would change from a driver side drop to a passenger drop so your IFS diff would not line up. (Basically an option for SAS guys), but alot are shifting to an Atlas tcase.
