It probably cost much less than stopping to go to the hardware store or coming back another day.

Leveled out the basement with the old man. Roughly a 2 hr job for about 700sqft.

    Only 2 hours? Not bad!
    What did you use?

2hrs was just mixing & pouring. The prep work to sand away the glue & gunks on old concrete floor (previously was carpet) was a 2-3 day ordeal working 3-4hrs each day. Used self leveler from Lowe's & a 1x2 stick to spread it out.

Gotcha, that's a fun process getting rid of glue residues...
If you got the leveler in the plastic bags, I work for the company that makes that one so I was curious. :D

It's my sister's house, they're now thinking about leaving it polished concrete w/ a sealer on top or vinyl/laminate (I like concrete or tiles more but their house)

Mapei is good but their rep has screwed us on large jobs in the past. We use Sika now after the last time.

    Product is still good however.

I have a 4 year old and a large dog, so hard surface is my choice too!
That stuff doesn't polish well, just so you know. It's really designed to have some kind of floor covering installed over it.

Ya we did it before w/ sealer & the finish didn't turn out great, little rough at certain spots. We were going for the Costco/HD flooring look & found out that's pretty much impossible to do.

I'm sorry to hear that, Sam.
We do make some good stuff, and I'm not just saying that! :D

Shoot me a PM if you want to talk about the other stuff. I'm in Technical, so I don't have that much pull, but I'll help how I can if you're interested.

Yeah that's tough to do unless you buy an industrial-type topping material. Polished toppings can get pretty involved and you need to buy/rent a decent diamond polisher to even have a chance of it not looking awful. Lol

nothing too crazy, we did a huge moisture system job and we've done more than i can even imagine and this one blew up on us because of improper abatement, we installed everything to a T like we try to do and the rep blamed improper installation and threw us under the bus in front of the client. After 5 years of being loyal to the brand and rep so we took our business elsewhere. We used to use Mapei floor prep and skim on every job, its definitely good stuff and the guys loved it.

I've got all kinds of remodeling work going on here this week. This is interfering with my Taco project. :)

Sorry to hear it, that's no good!
Poor abatement can certainly leave behind some nasty chemicals that nothing will stick to.
I hope Sika is treating you better, and im sorry we missed the mark with the service you got. :(

Reach out anytime if you need anything!
