I’m in the same boat, trying to get a decent kit together.

One big thing I think is a jump pack so that you can jump yourself if needed. I have yet to pull the trigger on one of these as reviews are always mixed

But my list that I have some of and need some things is like this

    - tools
    - impact (cause I’m lazy)
    - air
    - couple spare suspension bolts
    - tow strap
    - water
    - small overnight kit (lighter, poncho, space blanket, etc)
    - self recovery (maxtrax or similar)
    - first aid

I’m sure there are a bunch of things I’m missing, but I feel like that could get me out of most situations.

There’s a thread called AZ preparedness with some good basis on the subject. And after running into 2 backcountry emergencies in the past 6 months, reliable comm systems have been my first approach. Learned the hard way almost having a woman die in my backseat while trying to transport her to a place with cell signal.

This stuff works fantastic to refresh faded plastic too, it'd last for two weeks before returning to fade on my super dried out 01 taco oem fenders

+2 on the InReach some of the smartest money I have spent on my gear was that device. Thankfully I was able to self rescue when my ankle went but it was really nice knowing that if I was further out and not able to self rescue I had that SOS feature.

First aid/trauma kit and highly suggest taking a wilderness first responder type class. CAMRA offers a great program https://www.mountainrescue.org/medical-training reminds me I need to do this. SAM Splints are a great thing to have in the truck too

Self rescue/self recovery becomes pretty important as well, recovery gear, jump start kit, tools, picking up some tire plugs to plug a puncture prob not a bad idea. some sort of rations and gear to spend multiple nights out, food, water, water filter system (sawyer squeeze etc) sleeping bag or blankets and shelter. You can make pretty decent shelter out of a cheap 2 person emergency blanket and some paracord. Appropriate clothing for worst possible conditions on your trip. this includes appropriate footwear if you need to hike out.

I have a ACR transponder. They are $300 but don't have to be charged for 5 years and no service fee. After breaking my back climbing and hiking out I felt best buying one. I also go out to remote areas alone or with my S/O. My backpacking and occasional climbing partner torn his meniscus in Buckskin Gultch and used his to get helivact out. The other nice this is of you did have to use it they will send you a new one if you send the old one back and send them a write up of how you used it. They are more known on the sailing community and in the airplane community because they make a lot of stuff for them. I also like that they are global and use multiple Sat networks

Took the day off because last day of school for the kiddos and I have been busier than if I was at the office!

Drop kids off at bus stop, take boss to get blood work, get donuts for both classes, coffee ☕️ for the teachers, finally home to unload chainsaw and wood from the truck that I picked up yesterday on my way home from the office.

Now sitting on my ass for 15min before school is out for summer, then it’s on like Donkey Kong!

It has 10 free phone minutes and 10 free sms text. Per month. No termination fee.
It also has the sos button and will generate all resources to rescue all persons.
    It’s through these guys:https://www.roadpost.com/satellite-...MIlN7rx6zB4gIVgcJkCh0CowTWEAAYASACEgJpP_D_BwE

It simply pairs with your existing smart phone and allows Full Global Comms.

Iridium has invested millions in the most recent deployment of satellites. Its getting better every year.

You can also get internet , but it’s slow.

Soloing is a great experience, but @DevilDocAZ nailed it.

Headed to Alaska this summer for 10 days . Nice to have Iridium ( if needed).

My usual camping/ wheeling group consists of 4 paramedics/ firefighter and that’s a big piece of mind when out for multiple days.

Other than that, everyone else pretty much nailed it. Only thing I can think to add if going solo is that the less you know the area/ trail, the more prepared you should be. Something you heard was easy a few months ago can turn nasty after a few rain storms.

Great info! You're the only person that I've found that has one.

He is definitely correct! It's also something we have always been about in the Arizona Mountaineer Club and Canyoneering groups.

I think it looks great and it’s apparently still pretty capable, like a 4Runner lite.

Looks like it has a hair more clearance than the average Subaru.

I actually kinda wish I could get my wife to like it more than the 4 runner, it fits her needs much better but she just like's the taller ride of the 4 runner and does not like the black rocker panel molding.
