what buzzing? i have not heard any buzzing at all in my 2019. As far as it downshifting easily from 6th, yeah but who cares. I remember owning a 1988 ford bronco with the 3spd aod or whatever and 5.0 and it would shift out of od if a big enough bug hit the windshield. LOL.

I traded my 2016 Tacoma for a 17 TRD pro. Then I had my first ever midlife crisis (last month) and I bought a 19 Ford raptor and I do not regret it at all. lol

The buzzing is not a noise as much as it is a vibration that you can feel through the steering wheel and accelerator pedal under load through the 1800-2100rpm range. Search for it if you want more info. Lots of others saying the same thing.

And the transmission downshifting so early bothers me because with it comes higher engine rpms and a feeling like the truck is out of breath and struggling. One of those things that some people couldn't care less about. But I do. I want my vehicles to have enough power to cruise as if they are walking when small inclines present themselves. Not jump from 6th to 4th with all the associated sounds and sensations that go with 4500rpms. Personal preference.

I don’t think you could find a more anecdotal piece of evidence than that. A few people saying they’ve traded for Rangers etc is literally useless compared to sales figures. And so far in 2019 Toyota has sold 6 times as many Tacoma’s as Ford has Rangers, and sales have grown 8% over Q1 of last year. You seem determined to be disappointed in your Tacoma, and I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you. But a few fellow whiners on a forum notorious for people whining about 3rd gens doesn’t make your imaginary mass exodus from the Tacoma a reality.

Factually the Tacoma is doing better than it ever has before, and better than any competitor. If we want to go toe to toe on anecdotal evidence, I just bought one. So did my cousin, and one of my employees is currently looking for the right black OR manual to trade his second gen in on. Equally useless, but certainly reflects the facts much more closely.

Not sure what "problems" you are talking about, you just described what a truck should feel like. Real problems to me would be mechanical or electrical issues etc. People should stop complaining about the characteristic of the 3rd gen, is how the truck was manufactured and built. Calling problems to what is not a reality is deceiving to those who are interested on purchasing a new truck. I have a 2018 Sport and was very hesitant in purchasing by listening to trolls complaining about the truck, some of them not even owning a 3rd gen and still having a 2nd gen Taco. Ridiculous. Im very happy with my purchase and the very fact that acts like a truck is a plus!!!

@Pro-Taco Is this your first Tacoma ever? Thats a fallacy. Not everything that is new is always better. SPECIALLY in this case because of heavy emissions regulations coming 2025. I like the look of 3rd gens over 2nd gens, but unless they fix or improve the drivetrain, automatic tranny and 3.5 liter displacement then I don't see the value. Too much compromise. Maybe the 2020 will drive differently.

fords suck and so would a ranger as it's a ford. Taco's rule as it's a toyota. ISIS uses toyota as does the taliban so that says something about toyota's durability, reliability and capability. this is a toyota tacoma forum. If you are a hater, then leave. Nobody wants you here. :)

I traded my 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport for a 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport 6 speed manual. Nice little ride! It made driving so engaging, fun! To make a long story short, I missed my Tacoma. For me, driving a truck strikes a balance between fun and utility. I hope to pick up a used manual Honda Civic coupe/hatchback to play around with one day.

No. Had 1989 Pickup 4x4, still have Gen1 1999 and now 2019 OR. Tons of other trucks in between. What I was trying to say is that the technology is moving forward and improving in all aspects, so the Gen3 >Gen2>Gen1 and so on.

Yeah, I did. But of course you don't get to really put it through all the paces (I live where the first decent grade is 50 miles away) and I was hopefully optimistic. I certainly blame myself for having made a mistake, no doubt about that. You live and learn. And learning comes with costs.

That only proves that you can read.

Wrangler sales were up 25% this time last year; they are down 15% this year. None of it shows what’s really happening with Wrangler any more than they explain what’s happening with Tacoma.
