My opinion is nothing is full proof. Best option is to add as many deterrents as you can, like pop & lock for opening the tailgate and the sabellco lock over a hose clamp.

100% agreed, beats having a tailgate stolen.

I got a Sabellco lock also. Mine is black to be more stealth. I agree, if they really want it, they will get it no matter what but this lock is pretty heavy duty. If i saw this on the tailgate, i would just say f-it and move on to the next truck. You would need some heavy duty tools and some hard blows with a hammer or even sledge and you may only mar the surface of the lock.

I put washers over the cable stay eyes to make them harder to take off (also put a small nylon spacer behind the washer to let the cable stay eye rotate)

You must have got the lock before he included a round vinyl sticker to put over the lock to keep out moisture. I like the washer idea also! I think i will add that. Wont hurt!

Did you have to drill out the fender washer or which size fit?

I just took the bolt out and walked into my friendly neighborhood True Value to size it, sorry I forgot the exact size but it’s a standard one. Possibly a quarter inch ID? They also sell nylon bushings that fit it perfectly.
