Ok CB gurus. I got my

$142 uniden cmx760 bearcat off road series compact mobile CB radio, 40-channel operation, ultra-compact for easy mounting, large 7-color backlit LCD display on mic with built-in speaker mic, black

uniden cmx760, found a spot in the tranny tunnel area to put it and coax ran to 3' firestik behind the cab. I'm also running a 3' firestik for am/fm terrestrial radio reception off a different run of coax. I'm getting interference when I key the mic on the CB with the am/fm radio, I can hear my voice through my stereo system speakers.

The CB is grounded just behind the dash, but not mounted and just kinda floating in the tranny tunnel with foam padding to keep it from jostling around. Do I need to ground the chassis of the cb too? Both firestiks are mounted and grounded to the same rail, could that be my issue? CB coax runs down driver side frame rail and uses the driver side firestik, am/fm radio runs down the passenger side frame rail and uses the passenger side firestik.

I'm not even sure if I'm using my swr meter right.

I'm just worried somethings wrong that could damage the CB. I can live with it, but if it's gonna fry my new $100 CB or my $300 stereo, I'd like to fix it.

 

Your transmission might need a lot of therapy afterward though.

 

Just realized am/fm radios don't require a ground. Unhooked the ground from the coax ran to that antenna and interference went away. And now have the squelch at 1 instead of 4.
