Yeah, I assumed down dog would be better for me and after trying cobra I’m much more comfortable with that assumption.
Correct, those two rest positions are what are allowed, we can move our hands or feet but they must not come off of the floor, that’s an automatic disqualification.

Is laying out flat like a starfish allowed?

    Negative.

    The test goes like this;
The testee will lie flat on their stomach and position their hands and feet as needed to perform a proper push-up (feet must be together).

The time keeper will notify the testee and the proctor that they are ready with the timer set at 2 minutes.

The proctor will say “ready” when they are ready.

The time starts when you push up to the high plank position, at this time the proctor will slide a digital push-up counter under the testee’s chest, and the testee will attempt as many push-ups as possible within the 2 minutes.

    Rules:
The testee’s knees must not touch the ground, push-ups must be proper form, and there are only 2 rest positions, down dog and “low rest”. The testee must keep hands and feet in contact with the ground, failure to do so is an immediate disqualification.
Improper form push-ups will not count, if the testee’s knees touch the ground they will be immediately disqualified.

The digital push-up counters do not have to be operational as the proctor will keep count, they are used simply to set a standard for how low the testee must drop to count.

Thanks, I was 20 short my first test, 11 short on Saturday.
Academy at an S.O., only a part time certification but I’ll be able to attend 3 nights/week and keep my full time job now.

I don’t know if it was the temperature increase or the 8 day cruise but my run time slowed a little on my last test.

Preraces I always just stick to my normal diet as not to consume anything that will mess with me.

Plus nothing you eat pre race/test isn’t going to bring any magical advantages lol.
You either are prepared or not.

    So good luck and godspeed!

    Thanks Connor!

20 on my first attempt, 5 minute rest and then re-attempt, made it to 10 on my second test. If they allowed combined scores I would’ve passed....

20 on my first attempt, they gave us a 5 minute break and then a second attempt and I only got 10 on my second attempt.

    Get in.

    ^^^

Nope, you gotta go through the 5 month course and pass the academics, the agency that puts on the academy may or may not hire you so you may need to find an agency, go through their hiring process, and then you would be on part time.
Once you’re on part time your agency may pick you up full time at which time you can work up to 2 years before the agency must send you to the full time academy (10 weeks typically) to get full time certified.
    Retirement here is 30 years.
