Seems like it's always the case, unfortunately. I'd like the weather for the weekend to improve some though. Saturday's looking good, hopefully Sunday will follow suit

Noel, have I asked you about trailer tires yet? I imagine I have. I blew up ANOTHER one on my boat trailer on Memorial day heading south on 93. Do you deal with them at all, 175/80R 13 in load range D? Looking for something other than the Chinese garbage I seem to be getting.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
I know you were asking Noel and I respect his opinion because of his job but I'm just throwing in my 2C's. I've had good luck with the Kenda Karrier LoadStar tires. I bought them off of etrailer's web site and they seemed very well built. Heavier and stiffer sidewalls than the Goodyear Marathons that they replaced. I know they are made in China but so aren't the Goodyears. Also another good alternative is the Maxxis M8008 trailer tires. I believe they are made in Thailand. They might be worth a look

Are you running radials or bias-ply? Hopefully they're radials; if they're nylon no wonder you keep popping them. What sort of weight are you carrying?

Only option I have in a D load would be a Carlisle; everything else in that size is going to be C or lower. It'd run you around $60 if I got it for you.
It's got an M speed rating, so it's good for up to 80MPH. That'd help with holding up to highway travel.

Yeah, they're all made in China these days. The only one that isn't is the Goodyear Endurance, and they aren't made in that size.

The Loadstars are probably what I am going to go for. I can get 5 on galvanized rims shipped for under $500. Can't seem to find the Carlisles anymore but not sure that's what I want because they seem to keep exploding.

They are radials, D load. Boat is best guess 3800 lbs and the trailer is likely 1200. So you can get the Carlisles if I want.

Damn, I've had good luck with Carlisle tires in the past. I know in the camper world, lots of the no-name trailer tires are referred to as China-bombs.

Yep, I hear that on the fishing forums too but there really isn't anything that isn't made in China or some other far East country. I'll give 5 new Kenda Loadstar radials a shot and see what happens.

Whats up everybody, I'm from Maryland and will be visiting my family on the cape this summer. We go up every year but i've decided to drive the tacoma up this year. Any trails/ offroading up that way that y'all frequent? My cousin also has a tacoma and a jeep so I might ask him to explore some with me. I'll be staying with my aunt in Truro, my mom grew up in Ptown and thats where the rest of my family lives, but i know i'll need to go out and do my own thing, can't spend too much time there... too many crazies in that town.

Dual axle trailer? These tires are only rated for around 1300lbs per, so you're pushing the weight limits if you're pulling 5k, especially at highway speeds. That'd explain the blowouts. You may have to step up to a 14' wheel, maybe, so you can get into a heavier capacity.

The D's are rated at 1650 lbs per tire so I'm rated to 6600 lbs. unless I am doing my maths wrong. I can't fit a 14 due to the torsion axles.

These are what I'm thinking of: https://www.easternmarine.com/loadstar-st175-80r-13-radial-tire-galvanized-rim-load-range-d

Yep, looking at my product manual cross-eyed. 1360 is for the C load carlisles. The D's are rated for 1570. Of course, those ratings will be a bit lower in real-world, since it's a dual-axle.
Odd that they're kabooming on you; I run Carlisle C's on my boat and have had it on the highway many times without any problems. Of course, I usually limit myself to 75 with the trailer hooked up.
