I’m located in S. Utah, St. George to be exact. This is definitely a long term goal, and I’m only 23 so I’ve got some time. I am looking into the local technical college to take their welding program. I definitely want to learn to be able to fab. This seems to be one of the hardest subject to learn about / get info on the google box.

You do know that the front would still be mid travel, correct?

I did not. I was under the impression that with those spindles increasing track width by 2” each side and the lower uniball conversion it would get me there. So I’d just have an extra strong mid? What else would be needed to get more travel? After all of that I’d be pushing past Camburgs race kit as far as costs are concerned *facepalm*

Thanks for all of the replies.

Can't tell how good everything is on this truck from a single pic or two
weldingtipsandtricks.com will give you a really good background in what to look for in your welding techniques. Really helped speed up the learning curve for me. There's some good videos on tube bending and notching - just keep looking around.

The lowers are still stock length, which I am assuming your uppers are too. If you want to get more travel you need longer upper and lower control arms, and longer shocks. Other than being much stronger, the increase in track width on the spindles would be similar to adding wheel spacers to increase the track width.

So by the time you get all those parts and a regular 3.5 long travel kit you'll be within $500 of a kit designed around a uniball lower from them. I was in the same position and just went all in for their xlt kit.

Sounds like I should probably just stick with mid. I don’t want to lose bed space for the rear and I know doing a spring under makes your payload capability go down. I haven’t been able to find by how much, and I need to still be able to throw 2 dirt bikes and fuel ect. In there.

smashed this, broke that, covered it up with tape and paint
Did you have any issue with your upper arms being sloppy in the mounting to the frame?
There is a ton of space to make up for on mine and adding washers just doesn’t seem like the correct solution

I hope to do similar down the road with friending a race team and lend support to develop some realm of experience. I wonder if many are out in the AZ though?

Definitely do that, and then look into a career in welding. It's a field in short supply, and if you can pass the weld quals you'll always work.

    @LTDSC lol

Get as much as positive as you can IMO. I wish I could pull more than the 2.2-ish I get with my Baja Kits +2, but it still gets the job done fine.

Tc kits should be aligned to have a caster between 4-8* the caster on my 3.5 race kit is set at 6 degrees

I got my first alignment done but they gave me a Euro alignment.. put the cross caster on the driver side instead of the passenger side and put the passenger side toe at .60.

Not sure if it’s just because I haven’t driven my truck in a few weeks but it feels sluggish. Like it takes more than it used to to make slight corrections at highways speeds.

Also the steering wheel doesn’t like to center once it gets to one final rotation of the wheel before it is centered again. Not sure if that makes sense, but I noticed its only really prominent when when I’m making left turns. Got an appt in an hour to get a re alignment, just making sure I got the right numbers cause the tech said he’ll help me out.

My BK kit pisses me off with 2.3 caster maxed.
I miss my days of 4.5-5 with TC

Guys with 01-04 double cab 7" bedsides, what did you end up doing for your filler neck for the stock gas tank. Trying to get some ideas. Thanks in advance.
