I broke the taco today. I'm not sure what broke yet. The sad thing is I wasn't doing anything crazy. I was just cruising down a nice easy trail, hit a bump, and pop.
    I don't have pictures yet.
The front passenger side tire is pretty much stuffed in the wheel well and the uca is sticking up. Any ideas? I was thinking maybe the uca ball joint?

Hard to tell without pictures. I would suspect the upper UCA BJ went out from your description. There might be additional damage that you should check for as well.

Sounds like the ball-joint gave up the ghost.

I will definitely get pics in the morning. Having a dog, a toddler, and a wife with me at land between the lakes with very little cell reception made me forget the pictures. I ended up having to leave it at a campground I limped it to.
It was probably more of a bang then a pop. I couldn't see any broken metal so I guessed it was the uca ball joint. I just hope the control arm isn't trashed. Or the CV from limping it at that angle.

I don't plan on limping it 46 miles. The course of action for tomorrow is getting a wrecker, either through insurance or a friend of a friend. I will definitely get some pictures uploaded tomorrow for sure.

So, where is the exact location of the truck right now? You know, just in case I'm in the area and have an extra UCA/BJ's to fix for you before the wrecker shows up.:anonymous:

I almost wonder if it's a strut? I'm not too mechanically inclined with suspension components.

Yeah, the coilover is toast. Maybe someone nearby has some stock take-offs they can get you?

Looks like your lower spring perch gave way. The coil spring should NOT be that low.

I see lift spacer pucks up there. Possibly the root cause of said failure. Also, looks fairly rusty. Could be material failure do to an undercut/rusted out spring perch. Probably both in conjunction.
