How well would a 265 width tire do on a 9" wheel. Currently have stock wheels and 265/70/R17 tires. Looking to get new wheels and the ones I like only come in 9" width in the 17" size. Will it look funny, i.e. side walls not bulging much? Anyone have any pictures of this setup?

Wow, nobody? I think the stock sport wheel is 7.5" wide. Nobody has picks of this setup or is it not advised? It's an extra 1.5" on the wheel for the same tire.

I have 265/70/17 Duratrac's, the specs for that tire calls for a 7-8.5 inch wheel. I think they look great at 8.5 wheel ;), I hate when a tire is mounted on the wrong size rim. :(

thanks guys - maybe 9" is too much for a 265. Guess I will wait till I need tires and go to 285 or try to find a 17x8

Mine are 18's but you can get the idea here. 265/65/18 (same diamter as 265/70/17) on 18x9's. Not stretched at all.

Nice looking truck!, I just bought mickey Thompson on 17x9 (xd series) wheels, but planning to put 265/65R17 instead of the MTZ's, which are 265/70R17. did you have to install a lift or leveling kit?. I might be selling the wheels/tires and getting 8" wheels instead if I need to lift my truck.

Did you have to take the mud flaps out because of heavy rubbing, or just because they look ugly? Mine are touching a set of road bumps just in front of my son's school. All cars go through them with no problem, only my truck makes a hell of a noise when the mud guards touch the road bumps.

I took them off within 5 minutes of getting the truck home haha. Can't stand the look.

A lot of people trim a few inches off the bottom of their to prevent what you're describing.

You might be waiting a while for that guy. That post was 5 years ago.

You can fit that size tire on a stock Tacoma without having to do any modifications.

265/70/17 KO2’s on a 17x9 wheel. Had to get gorilla extended thread lug nuts. Luckily I found Tacoma world while researching.
