Well, I've honestly never had problems with Carlisles, myself. But Goodyear makes an Endurance as well (for a lot more $$) and the Kenda brand (which I don't carry trailer tires for) has a lot of good reviews, for a foreign brand.

    Well that's a bias ply.

    225/75D15 = Diagonal nylon ply
    225/75R15 = Steel-belted Radials.

Then the load range would follow.

I recommend radials for pretty much everything, though, because they run cooler on the highway. Bias tires only really give you an advantage if you're spending a lot of time off-road with them, because of the stiffer sidewall.

@Noelie84 what's the smallest trailer tire that can go up to around 70? Pulling my 14' aluminum boat at 60mph max up to Ellsworth sucks. If I could go about 65-70 I'd be alot happier.

@DoubleRGirl In NC one of my dogs kept bringing dead animals in...often full of maggots. I think we've cured him of that habit, but time will tell.

You'd have to get into a radial, so you're looking at a 13 inch at least. The small stuff like a 5.30X12 is all going to be bias ply and rated for a max of 55mph.

Look what I started. Anyway, just ordered 5 of the Loadstar/Karrier KR03 radial tires mounted on galvanized rims, should be here Tuesday.

Noel, they told me they typically do not need to be balanced, are they blowing smoke? I have never balanced trailer tires before but I really want to make sure this is right this time. Or as right as I can anyway. Changing that damn tire on 93 south on the busiest travel day of the year sucked. HARD.

I need to check the date range of the tires I have and the one that blew, I wouldn't be surprised if they are the originals and the trailer is a 2012.

Trailer tires typically aren't, no. You CAN, and it will tend to help them run a little cooler. When I was working at a shop we used to balance trailer tires for campers and horse/livestock trailers, and the rest of them were just mounted and sent.

I hope so. I don’t expect it to be super fast but it’ll be fun for sure.

My 250 Ninjette wasn't 'fast' from a motorcycle perspective, but it'd still do over 100, which is plenty fast enough to get into trouble.

Aha. Then I'm sure that the current acting Mrs. Nick is thrilled about this most recent purchase...

Well obviously. Still doesn't mean she's any happier about it, lol.

Haha, my little 350 won't hit triple digits on it's best day, downhill, wind at my back. I'd have to do some serious regearing and some power gains to get there.
