I'm not a midcentury modern fan but I enjoy Shaun's work. But everyone knows Gary is the real star.

Mostly done, need to finish filling in a knot on the side and sand down, then oil/seal it, add some rubber feet and should be decent cutting board. 18"x12"x1.75"

Hey everyone, Just getting back into wood working after probably a 15 year hiatus. Figured I'd start off with something easy, an outdoor sofa (or two)

Memorial Day, my wife and I went up to my brother-in-law's house and had brunch with their family and he gave me all his scrap cedar. I got probably $400+ of scrap lumber. He also sent me home with his planer, some pipe clamps a belt sander and some stain. Didn't have a red flag so I used a Toyota bag we had. The next day the wife and I were out and about in the FR-S (Little Bird) and we stopped in "At Home" to look at outdoor cushions. They had a Buy one Get one so we grabbed all the ones we wanted to begin the build. I asked if she wanted to go get the truck and she was adamant we could fit all the cushions in the car. Photos of that for comedic purposes. I wanted to get the cushions early in the project so I could build the sofas off of their dimensions. Last night the wife and I got home from work and scrubbed the dirt and crap off the lumber, then planed down the 4x4s to 3.5" squares. Today I'll be going over the dimensions and the cut list two more times, and hopefully making all my cuts today. That will leave partial assembly for Friday and this weekend.

Plans attached. I put that together in TinkerCad a few days ago. I also strategically placed each piece needed onto the lumber and have just enough to get every piece cut without buying extra wood.

    More to come.

Very little can stop a determined wife! Looks like a good fun project and nice to see the two of you working on it together. Makes it easier to say you need a new tool when she knows why ;D

I was actually pleasantly surprised when she asked to help. Now I have to teach myself patience. I can see why my grandfather used to cuss us out for going so slow!

Got all the pieces cut minus the slats today. Tomorrow starts assembly. The wife had so much fun helping she asked if could both take Friday off work to build.
