Whale Wars?! WTF

Seems to be a very stupid show. I understand the reason for wanting to stop it but really. Americans sticking their noses where they don't belong and doing it totally wrong in my opinion. They are going to their country and attacking/harassing Japanese ships that are doing what they have the right to do. If the roles were switched I bet their would be tons of people saying sink their ships and send them back to their country, I know I would. Hell I am saying it now! But what gets me is that they are putting it on Television. To me its like filming a crime and making it public.

My mistake I thought there were some American members. Though it is said to be banned in Japan they have a permit to do what they are doing thus making it legal for the ships to be doing what they are doing, no matter how wrong it is. No matter what techniques they used to get their permits......they were granted them. And in the end it is the Japanese's job to stop them not a Canadian Captain and some crazy crew. Which are endangering themselves more than helping.
Not to mention that it is being played on american television which in itself is showing support. Daryl Hannah is on the crew now so we will have an american there.

I still think they are idiots. I would not have a forigner board my ship in a criminal manor and attack me/captain and allow him to leave un-harmed. As far as I can tell he is not a form of police of any kind just a self appointed cop type and has no jurisdiction.

 

No matter their tactics or how STUPID you think the show is the fact of the matter is that THEY saved over 500 whales this season and cost the Japanese whalers millions of dollars.

 

They cost the japanese $70 million dollars. They are acting like pirates and should be treated as such. No matter what we think the Ships have permission to bring in these whales. The Minke whale is being hunted, some believe that their is an abundance of them causing other whale species to deplete because they compete for food supplys (Krill.) Thus some people believe that buy not culling the Minke whale they will possibly kill of other whale species such as Blue, Fin, and the Humpback. My point is 2 wrongs don't make a right.

 

i agree 100%, the japs are full of shit if they think we believe they are doing "research". id like to spear every last one of them bastards for what they put them whales through. but man these whale dudes are gettin a little out of control here.

i watch the show. watson uses all these guys like puppets.its for a good cause.i get that but im not risking my life for a whale or any animal.i have a family to provide for. its not americans and its not in jap waters. you should do some sort of reseach before judgeing what its about.

 

you made a thread on an assumption and on something you know dick about??!!! the sea shepherds are trying to protect the whales from getting murdered. like chris said, they are bsing and saying its for reasearch, even though they sell the meat after they "research" the stomach contents. they are over hunting whales and i for one root for the shepherds.

i gotta say, that i do find the sea shepherds a lil annoying, but their cause is something i support...

at first, i was like yah whatever, but i went on the website of the japanese research company, and they stated that they were conducting research on the carcasses of the whales in order to preserve the species, but when i saw the video footage of them systematically slicing up and prepping the whale meat on deck, and push the internal organs overboard without so much as taking any samples, my opinion changed...

crazy and annoying as they may seem, they are pretty much the only line of defense for the whales...

 

I agree with you!!! The sea shepards are Eco-Terrorists and no animal nor any ammount of animals are worth the life of a human being. They claim they are abiding by international maritime laws but boarding ships, destroying equipment, vandalism, and interference with the Japanese's operation is borderline Piracy.
