The base unit is called Iridium Go. Cost of the base unit is approx. 500.00 , but I got mine on Ebay for less. The company which you have your plan will issue you a GlobalSIM card and your own personal Iridium phone number where ANYONE can call, text or email . You will also get an iridium global email .

The unit is then activated through Bluetooth on your cell phone , via the Iridium app. Other people in your group can download the same app and pair their phone as well. In the event you become incapacitated (or lose your straw- @Azdevildoc) they can call for help.

I call it a 700.00 a year insurance policy. Some months I use it and others I don’t. But say 2 years from now you want to cancel your contract . you can. You still own the device.its basically month to month.

You can also designate (pings) text to specified groups of people and it will do it automatically. Say once per day or every 6 hours.. They get a link to the exact pin point of your location with a Google map. Date , Time, stamp etc.

Iridium next is already here check it out: https://www.iridiumnext.com/

I’ve already been in a couple situations getting help for others. Motorcycle accident at Canyon lake – First on scene-DOA. Kids on the rim driving like crazy , 15 year spun out hit a tree and ejected occupants.

It’s not always your own life you could be saving, but many people simply don’t have a clue once they leave the city and head into deserts, forests, and what is an unforgiving Arizona backcountry.

    Specs:

Iridium GO!™ is unlike anything the world has seen before. Powered by the world's furthest reaching network, this compact, rugged and portable unit creates the first ever reliable global connection for voice and data communications on up to five smartphones, laptops or tablets.

    • Military-grade (MIL-STD 810F) durability
    • Ingress Protection (IP) rating of IP65
    • Dust proof, shock resistant and jet-water resistant
    • Stable, lay-flat design

What kind of coverage and prices are you paying on the 4runner? Currently I'm running 1k deductible, no glass, 100/200 for $775 for 6 months.

Less than what you pay. $0 deductible, glass coverage, rental coverage, and much higher limits. We don’t skimp on insurance in our house.

I got a girl. She also drives a Toyota (4R).

Just remember that my longevity discounts along with accident free help my premiums.
Ryan pays a good chunk of change but he also has 4 vehicles and super high limits.

I have nationwide and while they absolutely suck balls as far as the way the website works and how renewals and changes feel like a shell game, I can't hardly argue with getting my Tacoma insured for $476 and the Civic Si for $776...
500/500, full glass, rental, roadside, custom equipment, deductible of $100 comp $500 collision.

Side note, don't do the "smartride" or other branded OBD2 monitoring bullshit. I got perfect scores and the full discount despite having the thing log going over bumps as "heavy braking events" and somehow my 2TR being able to crank out "hard acceleration events" a few times (AKA the g sensor is shit but will gladly report false positives)

What they don't tell you outside of the fine print is that it doesn't apply to your whole premium. Only the parts that they want it to, so it reduces your monthly by a few bucks. Less than $10.

I have USAA for everything as well and completely agree. They were awesome to work with when my last Tacoma was totalled. I also know that they are great with home coverage claims too.

With all this insurance talk, I actually did the same thing about a month ago, and redid my car and home:
    34FED54E-34B2-452B-9E9B-ECFEAD0FE704.jpg 5E87C2EB-8E47-4FD4-A348-991AB81686F3.jpg
Saved about $100 a month from what I was paying too $80ish a month. Funny thing is if I pay it all up front it’s like $415 or something on a 6 month versus the $484 for both vehicles which is already awesome. I also went from $1100 a year on the home insurance to $700, and actually got better coverage, so got a nice little cushion in my home escrow now thanks to that, as the premium was just about to get paid out when I switched.

Really? Did you text him? He is terrible at calling but usually really quick about text.

Yeah. He was quick as shit to respond last night. Said I needed it Thursday or Friday because the car may leave us Saturday. Gave him Ryans number, work address, and said when he would be there. Ryan didnt get anything at all today. It is what it is. It'll get traded with the dent.

We had a third day in a row no call no show today at my work. Needless to say he no longer works for us.

Speaking of that, anyone reliable want a crappy low paying job in flagstaff? At least it’s pretty easy and you’ll get benefits.

I'm so sorry about that. I have used him so many times in the past and the only issue was having to text, but I dont mind that. I know he is super busy but that is no excuse.

No biggie. I sold the 4runner shell last night and the dudes price to fix the dent was the same price as the shell. It was going to be a wash for us. Im gonna vacuum and do a quick detail in the morning before we head to the dealer.
