Transtercase... I'm confused...

Sorry guys this is my first time doing this. I have an 06 trd 4x4 sport. I just changed the front and rear diff.

The transfer case is different than the transmission?? Correct? How do I locate the transfer case? What does it look like? What does the transmission look like?

 

Ok and where is the Front diff?

How the he77 did you replace the front diff if you don't know where it is?

 

Yeah, some things are just better left unsaid...

 

hmm..... Diffs are in between each set of wheels (roughly soccerball sized metal cases). each of them has a driveshaft coming out of it heading in the general direction of the center of the truck. the box they meet at is the t-case. Good luck.

 

Before you go on the adventure of changing the oil in the front and rear differential and transfer case, you may want to employ a buddy who's done it before. Beer and pizza usually works well as payment. It's not hard but it'll go a lot smoother and you may learn some other tricks and hints if you have someone there who knows what they're doing.
