About to go ham nuts on the audio equipment.
For the fm antenna adapter, there is a blue wire coming off that harness. Does that get connected to the amp remote turn on wire (blue)?

Looking at this head unit for myself. Can you pull up the backup camera on demand and view while in motion or does it only work while in reverse?

My new head unit, maestro unit, rca's, speaker wire and other stuff all arrived. Guess I better figure out how to wire it up so I can install it lol

@CoastieRon, where did you get the drawings from so that I can print and work off of? I didn't see any in the maestro box, but I saw maybe I get it when I flash the maestro box with the program

Got it from the maestro site. PDF manual, then went from there. If you have questions, I probably have answers in my notes/pms with @destin_meeks

It's a lot easier than it appears.

Installed my DMX905s last Thursday and still playing with it.

Some things that didn't work for me out of the box I have to work on
    - No HD radio
    - Stock usb port doesn't work

    Pro's:
    - Android Auto
    - Amazon music works like Pandora on Android Auto so that was nice
    - Waze = much better than stock navigatio
    - Sounds amazing (and I haven't even adjust any amps or eq's on head unit)
    - Ability to have 2 phones connected over bluetooth at the same time
    - Easy to install, if you take time to read all the documents
    - Kept all steering wheel control - can even program each button to do what I want it to do.

    Con's:
    - Looks small in dash (not a Kenwood issue)
    - Wished it supported S9+ eireless Android Auto capability
    - Shuffling songs on flash drive doesn't appear to be as easy as Entune, specially if your flash drive has a lot of folders on it. Still working on this.

Things I lost in the center dash screen:
    - Navigation directions
    - Digital Compass
    - Some, but not all audio information. It says Android Auto, but doesn't show artist, song or anything similar

I'll update as I get to use it more and make more changes, but overall it's worth the money to go from Entune to this Kenwood unit.

I have an issue with radio as well, but I'm not sure the cause

I got an adapter for the stock USB, works fine with my micro USB drive for music

USB drive is playing music in alphabetical order if you play an album lol haven't figured that one out yet.

I have the additional antenna adapter and tied the blue wire to the remote cable on head unit, but still nothing. I will work on the flash drive 'cause it's annoying it doesn't shuffle like it's supposed too lol and I have a solution for the usb drive, but just have to take the time to get to it lol

So I worked on more today and I was able to get the radio to work - yay. There is a white connector from the factory harness that you plug into the white connector with the antenna extension and blue cable. Here is what it looks like

    2019-06-21 10.33.35.jpg

I also moved the mic to where the factory mic is. There is a gray connector that has the mic built into it that I removed from the upper console and then stuck the new mic there. I did some test calls and it sounds good and now I don't have to look at it anywhere. We'll see if it gives me any issues later, but this is what it looks like installed

    2019-06-21 10.34.28.jpg

Lastly, I played with the usb and after research, the Kenwood does not have any capabilities of shuffling songs from other folders on usb drive, will only shuffle songs within the current folder so that is kind of lame.

I need to get back there and double check connections, but am in no rush, as I listen to books on my commute (radio stations suck), and music on short trips from either USB, apple music or my ipod set up.

My kids get a kick out of the "hey google, play ........" when we are using apple music or Amazon music on AA. it is pretty convenient. They do it to get the bass rumbling to show off to their friends in the truck. I have a feeling they are both going to want their cars set up when they finally get one.

Android Auto is refreshing the interface this summer, so I have been updating everything (new release of AA as of yesterday, and need to update firmware for head unit to latest update of 5/28/2019) in order to take advantage of it when it releases.

    Firmware:

    https://www2.jvckenwood.com/cs/ce/mm/firmware/2018/2018o/eng.html

    Android Auto Update:

    https://9to5google.com/2019/06/25/android-auto-redesign-live/

I may have gotten an advanced update via mirror link, and I can't seem to find the link now.

I've been using Google Maps lately, on Satellite mode, and it's pretty cool.

Firmware update made the UI much more responsive, and the wireless AA hooks up a lot quicker now. I still can't find how to set up the gauges, and the top of the gauges screen says "OBDII Disconnected". For some reason I thought I read that the OBD II plug didn't need to be hooked up on this. No matter, I never use them.

What phone do you have? Samsung apparently doesn't support wireless AA so I have to plug into usb each time I want to use AA which kind of sucks, but I'll get used to it. I'll look at doing the firmware update this weekend.

As for gauges, I have been playing with them a little and picking out the ones they have available. I have a obdii adapter, but mine isn't connected and the head unit lets me pick a slew of available gauges. My gauges show me rpm, average mpg, 0-60 and 1/4 mile time (although I don't think this works right), and other useless info right now.

I have a Google Pixel 2. AFAIK, Google phones (Pixel, Nexus) are the only wireless AA phones out there.

As for the OBDII plug/Gauges, I have no real idea on how to select, but I haven't really tried either.
