    Should have leased it.
My uncle had one of those in the 80s/90s it didnt look no where close to as nice as that one pictured. I can still remember ridding it, no seat belt, while he smoked a cigarette that he rolled himself. Back in those days you could go into a 7-11 and buy a bottle(glass bottle) of strawberry orange Tropicana.

    America needs the El Camino.

They are both great motors however, the 4L 1GR-FE is better suited to what I use my truck for.

"May"???? Come on. You either know something or you're just making stuff up.

The 1GR engine diagrams looks pretty similar to what I see when I change the oil on the 2GR-FKS.

you forgot the most famous 327! In fact, if the 4L is the 350... the 3.5L is the 327. Both great motors. Yesterday and today.
    Also the 307

By 2012 they had most of the issues sorted out. I see you have a 2009.:D

That's a pretty good comparison..... essentially the same bore/block with a different stroke.... At least if you're counting the large journal 327s. ;)

    For sbc these are my favorites ... 406 , 408 ,410 and 454 sbc

BBC ...... Won't go any smaller than a 565 and the 632 is the best

Hydrolocks going through puddles. LOL. Maybe the Tacoma is a magical creature that assumes the characteristics of its owner, which would turn his into a whiny bitch.

You forgot about the 302Boss found in the 60's mustangs or 302DZ found in the Z28's btw 5.7L is a 350ci.

    Not directed at you...

a 3.6L would be about 220. Ci Hmm a 220ci motor making 278Hp and 260 torque. Lot more than a lot of the older TRUCK engines we all used for decades.

ANY type of equipment that relies of gravity for liquid flow/location will have a maximum angle it can safely or be able to operate.

Since all the mass produced vehicles under $100k have wet sump systems and gravity returns they ALL will have a maximum operating pitch and roll that they can safely operate at, depending on the oil return system it will also affect how long they can operate at that angle. i.e. 20mins at 30deg 5 mins at 60 deg. You'll also find different characteristics based on the design if you are pitch forwards or backwards right or left. Grade 2 physics applied to first year mechanical principals. "Common sense" to the mechanically inclined.

G forces for the delta in speed and cornering forces are other considerations that that the engine designers take also into consideration.

Only SLIGHT advantage the second gens have in the whole system is the torque values at 1500-about 2500 rpm (too lazy to go look it up),

But now if you compare pretty much EVERYTHING ELSE, the second Gens ARE inferior. (Period)

For the people saying that this is not a truck engine, I just wish you could see the look on people's faces when you blather that statement out.... Go to any mechanic or Automotive engineer, pop the hood and make that statement, Lol you'll see what I mean.

If it is the same engine as in the Camry you should be able to unplug and unbolt one from there and drop it right in... LOL

Has the smallest bore and poorest flowing cyl heads of any BBC . As of today any BBC smaller than a 454 has no market value besides giving it to someone for #'s matching restoration

We just had our CIR/Paving train mobilized on a new project today. Our mechanic came out to get everything ready.

I was feeling a tad playful, so I asked him to rank the top truck motors from the last 20 years. He though about it listed some of what he thought were the best and then started talking about the new Vogele path pavers we had been looking at. He's not a fan and let me know why.

Anyway, I let him go on for awhile and said, "Billy, do you think the 4.0L Toyota 1GRE-FE is one of the better truck motors? I'm on a forum where people think it's in the pantheon of great truck motors."

He laughed and said "Sounds like a stupid fucking forum."

My guess is these same people are accustomed to that look and it no longer registers as derisive.
