you and me both...1 more 600 grit sanding, 1 more coat of paint, trim the perforated aluminium, clear coat over grille assembly and aluminium, attach aluminium to grille assembly, and install (if everything goes according to plan).;)

    100th post [sort of]....

^^^ Hope you dont mind, I don;t mean to thread jack, but I have a quick question on sanding... I was at the hardware store today and picked up materials for a satoshi project (just waiting for the grill to come in). As far as sandpaper goes, I have 320, 400, 600, and 1500. Are those levels acceptable for the prepwork I'll need to do before painting ( I have a grill surround to do as well as the bondo'ed portion of the satoshi)? Or do I need some 800, 1000, and 2000 to do the job right?

    Thanks

I "plan" to bond (epoxy) nuts around the inner lip of the grille assembly (engine compartment diagram [] below), then attach the aluminium to the grille assembly with screws (again, from the engine compartment side of the grille assembly)...

first, I'm using this to edit my previous post of 08/18/10, as follows: 1 more 1200 (or 1300...I forget) grit sanding to go on the grille assembly.

reply to wtbthree's question: I went from 100 grit, to 150 grit, to finer and finer (don't remember...I'll edit this later), down to 1200. imo, you'll be good w/320, 400, 600, and 1500...but you may want to start w/100 or 150 depending on how generous you are with the bondo. this was my first time using the stuff, and i recommend using it sparingly as it's just going to take more time to sand it down if you use too much initially (i.e., if you lay it on too thick initially, you'll be sanding it off/down for awhile)...the 100/150 cuts into the bondo much quicker than the less coarse grits.
