Doesn't hurt to block it out . Takes 10 seconds in ms paint program. As someone who has had their truck stolen and stripped for 4wd goodies once (some pre-runner douche converting to 4x4), I don't feel a need to advertise what I've got and where it is located. Not hard to get an address off a plate.

As we all know, people talk differently to people on the interwebs than they do in person, and tempers flare over some stupid assed shit. Rather not give out more info than needed. The type of guy who gets that wound up might be the type of guy who would use the info.

For the same reason I don't generally get involved or further road rage situations, I also do not usually get involved in internet pissing matches. But that's no guarantee I haven't about sent someone off spinning into their own little psycho universe because a turn signal wasn't used, or something written was taken wrong or over reacted too. Too many sick fugs out there, and don't need to make it easy to lead anyone to the front door.

Call it paranoid if you will, but 10 seconds in a photo editing program is not a big deal to me.

Yes, people can see your plate number on the street. But when you put a picture of it online they can link a person and profile to a plate which they can't do on the street. You never know what kind of nutbags there are out there. You don't want to give anyone more info on you than they should have.

The main reason I don't use my name is that I really don't like my name. (Not a super cool name)
But my User name is exactly the same on every forum that I visit so if you see me there "toku58" It's me!:welder:

In a recent youtube video, this guy flipped his plate around on tacoma not realizing that people could still read it.

I don't bother b/c I figure my truck is unique enough that if you really wanted to anyone could find it in a parking lot and just copy the plate then. Not like I can drive around with no plates:anonymous:

Never have understood, why some people are so timid about showing their licences plates. I mean seriously, how many see your plates if you are driving around say LA or Dallas all day?

Same with forum screen names, why not just use your own name? I was president and helped manage a forum for a collecting organization. Anyone could view our forum however you had to register under you real name to post/participate. We hardly ever had any conflicts, basically didn't even need a moderator. People are a lot more respectful of other and less confrontational when posting under their real name.

License plates are PII and should be protected as best as possible. Sure they are on your truck in public but how many people stop to memorize a plate. 99% of the time if I do look at a plate it’s to see the state.
