I brought the truck to my mechanic and there was good news and more good news!

    1. The problem turned out to be a part of the fender liner that had come loose and was being ping-ponged around between the tire and the wheelwell. This particular part has been like this for months, but it didn't start making noticeable noise until a few days ago.
    2. My mechanic put in some clasp thingies and didn't charge me for his time!

My uncle was a mechanic for years and says the heat buildup is normal. This heat buildup did not happen with my aftermarket 16" wheels, only the 15" stockers.

This just started happening in my rig, just as you described. Can you post pictures of the fix? Having trouble picturing it.

I may be wrong here, but Looking at the wheel picture, the lugnuts have Zero to less than flush threads protruding. Something is amiss here.

2012 5-speed 4x4 with 102K miles, traded for a Subaru at the dealership where I work; I talked my supervisor into letting me take it for a quick spin while on break (I detail cars).

    A0F9E988-F89E-450E-A547-DDC18E0066C6.jpg F42FF99B-688C-44BF-9A57-91BD728F30BC.jpg F949EA84-8471-4367-88F4-23A3F973A385.jpg 35079984-75D0-4491-AB22-DA4AF1D67A23.jpg

I am very tempted, but weary of the fact that I don’t know the truck’s history (or trust Carfax). Also, I found out that the dealer paid exactly what I would have paid and is now asking $14K for it. During my brief test run, I found the truck to run and drive good. This Taco is a little dirty, but it was maintained. The A/C blew cold, the clutch felt good, and transmission shifted smoothly.

Of course, if I’d bought this thing the factory stereo would have to go.

    PROS:

    • It’s 2 years newer than my truck.
    • It’s a stick shift!
    • It’s a 4x4!
    • Fog lights!

    CONS:

    • Not only has almost 5K more miles than my truck but has over 100K miles!
    • I don’t know the history of the truck.
    • The truck has a sticker on the back from a Kia dealership, so it more than likely has had at least two owners.
    • Typical dealership markup.

As an added bonus, it has the feature of limp mode since it’s a 2012

If you work at this dealership, would the manager be willing to let it go to you at cost?

If it seems well maintained, I wouldn't worry about multiple owners. I'm 3rd owner on my GTO and know for a fact it was sold at auction at one point, it's been great to me.

If its only 5k more miles, that's basically nothing.

The stickers on the tailgate would be enough to make me run.

Regular cabs were only available with the 4-cyl. They have had the air injection pump since the beginning in 2005. Rarely a problem.

    And...

    1. I’m quite attached to my truck.
    2. My truck is paid for.
    3. I (with the help of my neighbor) put a lot of time and effort into installing a killer sound system (sub and amp alone took six hours)!
    4. My parents have had bad experiences with much newer used vehicles and I share their worries.
