Sounds like you kinda already know what to do. #2 is a pretty good reason to keep yours.

I could afford to pay cash for this truck if I sold my current one for at least $8,000.

That is a pretty awesome little truck though, reg cab 4cyl 4x4 5spd Toyotas are where it's at.

As much as I like the looks of 'em, I couldn't do a regular cab...I have a hard enough time with the lack of storage room in an extra cab.

The riskiest thing you can do when you have a working vehicle is buy a different vehicle. The safest one is usually the one you have. You know how’s it’s been treated, and it’s record. Why would you even trade “up”? It seems silly for a two year difference and more miles. Just take the extra money and mod yours more if you want something different.

That’s why I probably will not get rid of my truck in this lifetime. It’s always been good to me (it is a Tacoma, after all).

My truck took a glancing blow from a drunk old man in a 2002 Mercedes back in 2015, resulting in $2,200 damage to my truck while the Benz got totaled. That truck kept me safe!

I've already got a friend who's a former Volvo mechanic (and current Tacoma owner) who has his own shop. I bring my truck to him for everything except state inspections (which I get for free from the Toyota dealer along with a free loaner car).

Mine's been in three minor-to-moderate fender-benders, two of which were NOT my fault, and all in the span of 7 months too! I got my license in May 2011 and had no accidents until someone rear-ended me in March 2015. Then, I rear-ended a Mustang in August 2015, and Sir Drinks-A-Lot hit me in October 2015.

Random question, since this is a forum and this is what tends to happen...

Are you with the LAPD or the LA County Sheriff (or perhaps the CHP)?

I don't even want to think about what money we've put into it. My dad bought the truck brand new and it's been an ongoing father-son project since then...
