LOL I can imagine what a heavy equipment and Truck mechanic would say about that... did his eyes bug our or roll when you said that.

I'm curious what he listed off though as I always appreciate the experience from people that work on them all the time.

Plus "Truck Engines" (Motors are electric don't forget) covers such a wide spectrum of applications.... are we going to argue Paccar, Freightliner Caterpillar cause any one of those puts all the passenger car/truck engines to shame, maybe... all depends how we look at it.
The crap that does pour into and around all the good information on this forum is astounding some times. Like trying to find brown M&M's in the outhouse.

Guy with a diesel will have the best engine when he's rock crawling but will have the worst engine if he has to accelerate on the highway....
You would not want Gravdigger's "Truck Engine" in your Tacoma (well not your daily driver Tacoma anyways lol )

Lol NOT on a Friday, we'll have to open a thread to figure out / summarize how steep and deep these trucks can really go safely and for how long. Will have to grease up the Troll cannon and send some Hookers and Meth to a moderator or two to have a hope to have a rational thread here though LOL.

He's not a Navistar fan..... of any era. He gave me the run down of how good the Cat engines were and why they exited the market....and he's got a project DD Series 60.

People who wrench on big diesels are always partial to the Cummins. Our mechanics have a say in what we buy and 90% of what we run is Cummins. We learned some hard and expensive lessons straying from the Big C over the years. For passenger trucks, I was big LBZ fan, but Billy doesn't agree.

He listed a bunch of non diesels, the only ones I can remember are the 440 Mopar and the the 300 Ford....

Well I agree with everything you said, so we must be right LOL I can see why the disagreement on the Duramax engine, torque beasts but they had a few mechanical issues.

Hmmm 440 soon as someone says that number first thing that come to my head is six pack, next thing is, pain in the ass to setup that six pack, next thing is tire smoke and not being able to left my head off the headrest :)

I’ll add some fuel, here is the official reply from Toyota Canada when I asked them about fording depth for lulz.

Lol yep they CYA'd all right, "flooded road" technically could be 1/4" of water. In my manual (2017 it was only on page 164 and it was only the statement that Norlisk posted.
    What I call "Weasel Words"

So was the guy with the website wrong when he said something like "a puddle on the road voids your warranty" ?

If I don't waste all my magic troll dust on this forum I think I'll write a nice letter to Toyota asking for clarification on "flooded road" .

"So by the owners manual Page 164 saying I can't drive on the road after a Heavy Rain otherwise my warranty is void and the truck can be damaged, I would like some clarification on that statement.
A "heavy rain" can put 1mm of water on the road. So if my truck goes on the road in the rain in 1mm of standing water it may become damaged?
Toyota will take no responsibility for a vehicle not designed for what is considered a "Normal Environmental Factor"?

Looks like unless we live in the desert we better start trading in for the Rangers.

I guess that it why I think my truck is so sweet, it's made of sugar but may melt in the rain!

What I don’t understand about this whole thread, Toyota brothers and sisters, is who gives a fuck about what the warranty says or doesn’t say about water crossings? Can’t we use our own god-given brains, and self-acquired knowledge to understand where the intake is and not flood the engine?

That’s what people without warranties do.....or, for that matter, guys driving Ladas with Russian-only owners manuals.

I drive through various puddles, creeks, and flooded road sections in my (still under warranty) Tacoma at my own prerogative and risk. I don’t expect Toyota to give me a blessing prior to a water crossing, and if I’m so stupid, or so unlucky that I fuck up, it’s 100% on me. I won’t be launching a fluffy website or going on a smear campaign.

Geez.....the world is so chock-a-block full of spineless ninnies these days. All pouring over their owners manuals and buying and selling trucks based on legalese and fine print.

To future off-roaders who think trail damage, including hydrolocked engines, should be covered by your Toyota Warranty, I offer this advice: stick with video games and masturbation. The world is truly too complex and scary for someone of your delicate composition.

I remember that crossing when I was doing Mojave Trail, we were coming from the other side and opted to take another route, I backed my truck just to test how deep it was and it was way too deep for a common sense in November.

I had a 2006 crew cab with the LBZ - I should have never sold that truck.

No injector issues, it ate glow plugs like Pez and it was a hairy bitch to swap out the one on the #8 cylinder.

    Russians were 1st in space..
FYI, Ladas never went into limp mode... Always got us home with basic set of wrenches in the trunk.

I support you there. We got Lada Nivas in Canada during the Cold War. Always thought it was cool we could buy Russian cars here, while the Americans could not. The cars went well with a Cuban cigar. ;)

They were not particularly well supported by their sketchy dealers, but people who had them knew they were the real sauce. Killer tough vehicles. Unibody too.....what a Ridgeline should be.

Lada exited the Canadian market sometime in the late 80s I think, but apparently the Niva, mostly unchanged, is coming back to Canada in 2019.

Lotsa shit in this vid that would hydrolock any Toyota ever made.

Late 90's i saw Niva in Wankuver and almost peed my pans. That car can off- road without expensive addons. Well, any russian car is off road ready...
