So I guess it would be more accurate to use the example of flying Scotland and England together or North and South Vietnam/Korea. I guess my point was, there was not mutual respect from either side. I mean, this was a civil war.

 

As a Army vet, history major, civil war buff, and former middle school history teacher. It was just too difficult to let that sort of historical inaccuracy roll by.
For the record I absolutely disagree with any one of these monuments being pulled down. Revising history is a scary and slippery slope. The greatest lessons history has to teach us comes from the good and bad, the country’s black eyes, the country’s shining moments. You embrace all of it, learn from all of it , and celebrate that all of it brought us to right where we are now, with the responsibility to our fellow Americans, and the rest of the world to leave this place better than we found it.
To your point Scotland and England are both member countries of the United Kingdom. North and South Vietnam part of one country called Vietnam. The union and confederate states both make up The United States of America.
As far as respect on both sides.... we’ll the civil war is full of amazing stories. You PM me I’d be glad to send you some books that are great reads on the Civil War. Thank you for the discussion. I doubt either person has changed the other mind, but conversation is a good thing.

I outgrew applying window stickers to my vehicles many years ago when I was 20 years old.

Also, do not understand why every tenth truck in Texas has a Yeti sticker. It must be a Texas thing that a San Franciscan is unable to interpret or understand.
