My co worker has a brand new Camry. The paint is coming off in big flakes on the front plastic bumper because it didn't get any primer at the factory.

Exactly, I know we hate going down the "its not the same Toyota" rabbit hole, but my cement tacoma's paint was garbage, I had far too many chips in 5000 miles than any vehicle should, my SW which is a single stage seems to be holding up better even.

No shit Sherlock. In case you haven't figured it out, it's not the pressure washer's fault, it's the person operating the pressure washer. Of course a pressure washer can be used but not one inch away with the wrong tip.

Comparing a car wash to a home pressure washer is... not smart. The car wash is toned down pressure wise and uses a wide fan tip. Again, taking operator error out of the equation and let's face it... the pressure washer won't mess stuff up by itself. It's the operator.

So I'm not supposed to know math with a degree in physics? I'm entering med school soon so I'm not an engineer.

I do track day with a 2017 Lexus GSF though, not a corvette.

That, and a public car wash doesn’t set the bar for what is and isn’t good for a vehicle.

I got a SW this January and it seems pretty solid although not enough time has passed.

Being in the paint industry, a white is the easiest to formulate other than a clear. Metallics and other pigments can interfere with the curing mechanism. I never worked with automotive paint, though.

Lol you cant read apparently either. I use a 40 degree tip and was not 1 inch away from the paint?

My SW was made in October of 2018 and I didnt pick it up until this month, May of 2019, whereas my cement since its such a popular color was made and sold in the same month, My thinking was maybe the paint just hadn't been given enough time to cure / harden, that or like you said something about the cement color mix, but I'm far from an expert or versed in automotive paint, just have had 8 Tacos in all colors and the cement was the worst as far as paint chipping.

I’m still on the “wash with a bucket. Enjoy yourself.” Side as opposed to the “eh...if I hold it a certain way nothing bad will happen...hold my beer”

Can’t risk compromising my paint. I live in a rusty area.

And most would agree with you, 2 bucket garden hose nozzle method is the least harsh but sometimes the pressure washer is a vital tool, like getting the car ready for sealant/wax/ceramic coating, after winter on the undercarriage, mudding, etc. If you are ontop of your washing game and keeping up with it you shouldnt need a power washer very often.

I like to eliminate the bad variables as much as I can. I wash after I get dirty. I get all up in there bro.

I work / interact with pilots on a daily basis, I wouldn't say being one automatically makes you one of the sharpest crayons in the box...

It should but paint still hardens over time.
